Montreal Impact (1992–2011)
The Montreal Impact (french: Impact de Montréal) was a Canadian professional association football, soccer club based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1993, the team played in the United Soccer League. Later, the Impact played in the North American Soccer League (2011), North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid until the 2011 season. The owner Joey Saputo now operates the Major League Soccer, MLS team CF Montréal, which also carried the Montreal Impact name until 2021. The team played its home games at Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard until 2008 when it moved to the new Saputo Stadium where it played until its move to MLS. The team's colours were blue and white. The Impact had 11 different head coaches during these years. Rocco Placentino
Rocco Placentino (born 25 February 1982) is a Canadian retired international soccer player. He is currently the technical director of Canadian club CS Saint-Laurent. Career Club Born in Montreal, Quebec, Placentino spent most of his early career in the Italian lower leagues, representing Avellino, Teramo, Cavese, Gualdo, Massese and Gubbio. On 22 May 2008, Placentino returned to his hometown team, the Montreal Impact, having originally left the team for Italy six seasons previously. During the 2009 USL season, Placentino scored a goal in the playoff quarterfinal match against the Charleston Battery. On 26 November 2009, Placentino signed a two-season contract with the Impact. António Ribeiro (soccer)
António Ribeiro (born October 8, 1980) is a Canadian retired soccer player. Club career Montreal Impact Born in Aveiro, Portugal, Ribeiro began his soccer career with the Montreal Impact in 2000, but did not play a major role with the Impact that year. In 2002, he was released by the Impact and signed with Panellinios, with whom he won the Canadian national championship title at the senior amateur level in 2002. In 2004, he returned to the Impact and helped the team to secure the franchise's first double (the League Championship as well the Voyageurs Cup). In 2005, he scored the winning goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC to clinch the Regular-Season Title for the Impact and as well as their third strait Voyageurs cup. Simon Gatti
Simon Gatti (born February 16, 1981) is a Canadian former soccer player and current head coach for thMontreal Impact Academys U-14 team. He initially began his career in his home region of Niagara with St. Catharines Wolves in the Canadian Professional Soccer League. He made the transition to college soccer by enrolling at the University of Rhode Island, and during the off season he played in the Premier Development League with Rhode Island Stingrays. In 2006, he was drafted by the Montreal Impact of the USL First Division, where during his six seasons with the organization he won a league championship, and a Canadian Championship. Stephen DeRoux
Stephen DeRoux (born 3 December 1983) is a Jamaican footballer. Career College DeRoux played college soccer at Prince George's Community College, in Largo, Maryland, where he was a NSCAA Second Team All-American in 2002. Professional DeRoux signed a developmental contract with D.C. United on 15 September 2005, and subsequently played in 10 games for the team, but following the conclusion of the 2007 season, United did not exercise DeRoux's contract option. Although he was invited to rejoin United during the 2008 pre-season training camp to attempt to re-earn a roster spot, he was not offered a contract with the team. DeRoux spent the 2008 season with Minnesota Thunder in the USL First Division, playing 29 games and scoring 1 goal, before moving to Montreal Impact in 2009. Srdjan Djekanović
Srdjan Djekanovic (Serbian: Срђан Ђекановић/Srđan Đekanović; born 8 January 1983) is a Canadian retired professional soccer player. Philippe Billy (born 13 January 1982) is a French former professional footballer who played as a defender. Club career Billy was born in Nantes. Reda Agourram
Reda Agourram (born October 12, 1990 in Rabat), is a Moroccan born-Canadian former soccer player. Career Professional Agourram began playing soccer with Montreal-Concordia in 2008 in the Ligue de Soccer Elite Quebec. In 2009, he signed with Trois-Rivières Attak of the Canadian Soccer League. In his debut season he was the league's top scorer with 13 goals, and won the CSL Championship. He was also named the CSL Rookie of the Year. Marco Terminesi (born September 5, 1984, in Woodbridge, Ontario) is a Canadian former soccer player. Career Youth and college Terminesi attended Holy Cross Catholic Academy, and played club soccer for Woodbridge Soccer Club, guiding them to the 1994 and 2000 Robbie International Championship, the 2002 Ontario Cup Championship and the 2003 Showcase Championship. Wesley Charles (born 12 December 1975) is a Vincentian footballer. He was born in Brighton. Career Europe Charles spent the beginning of the 2000s traveling Europe. Patrick Leduc (born December 26, 1977 in Saint-Lambert, Quebec) is a Canadian soccer player who formerly played for Montreal Impact in the USSF Division 2 Professional League. Career Youth and amateur Before turning pro Leduc played amateur soccer with FC Sélect Rive-Sud in the Ligue de Soccer Elite Quebec. He also played for U15 and U17 Quebec select teams winning two silver medals, and later played for Twin Cities Tornado in the USL Premier Development League in 1998 and 1999.
