Christie's is a British auction house founded in 1766 by James Christie. Its main premises are on King Street, St James's in London, at Rockefeller Center in New York City and at Alexandra House in Hong Kong. It is owned by Groupe Artémis, the holding company of François-Henri Pinault. Sales in 2015 totalled £4.8 billion (US$7.4 billion). Simon De Pury
Simon de Pury (born 1951) is a Swiss auctioneer, art dealer, and collector. He has appeared in several television programs and films, including the Bravo network reality series '' Work of Art: The Next Great Artist''. His book ''The Auctioneer: Adventures in the Art Trade'' was published in 2016. Early life Simon de Pury was born in Basel, Switzerland. His mother was Switzerland's leading expert in Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, and his father was head of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche in Japan. He studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts in the 1970s. Jerry Saltz (born February 19, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American art critic. Since 2006, he has been senior art critic and columnist for '' New York'' magazine. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959.
