2010 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier
The 2010 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was played from 9–13 February 2010 in the United Arab Emirates and a part of ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series. The top two teams progressed to play in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20, the international championship of Twenty20 cricket. The eight competing teams were: Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, the Netherlands, Scotland, UAE and the USA. The groups were devised by virtue of seedings from the previous ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, which was won jointly by Ireland and the Netherlands and, for the teams not participating in that event (Afghanistan, UAE and USA) on latest one-day rankings. The tournament winners go into Group C of the ICC World Twenty20 2010 along with South Africa and India while the runners up will join West Indies and England in Group D. Karim Khan Sadiq ( ps, كريم خان صادق; born 28 February 1984) is an Afghan cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman who occasionally fields as a wicket-keeper for the Afghan national team. He can also bowl off break, taking 4/27 against Denmark in their first match of 2009 ICC World Cup Qualifier. Hamid Hassan ( ps, ; born 1 June 1987) is an Afghan cricketer. He is a right-arm fast bowler and a right-handed batsman who mainly plays as a bowler. He made his international debut for Afghanistan in April 2009. Early life and career Hassan was born in 1987. He was the second of three sons; his older brother was Rashid and his younger brother was Shamshad. When Hassan was six years old, his family fled fighting in their home district of Bati Kot near Jalalabad, Afghanistan to go to Pakistan as refugees. Aftab Alam (born 30 November 1992) is an Afghan international cricketer. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for the Afghanistan national cricket team in early 2010. He made his first-class debut for Mis Ainak Region in the 2017–18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament on 13 November 2017. In July 2018, he was the leading wicket-taker for Speen Ghar Region in the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, with ten dismissals in four matches. Nawroz Mangal (born Nawroz Khan Mangal) (نوروز خان منګل ; born 28 November 1984) is a former Afghanistan cricketer. Mangal is former captain of the Afghanistan national cricket team and also famous for leading Afghanistan to prestigious ODI status. In January 2017 he retired from international cricket and became the national chief selector for Afghanistan.
