2010 UCI World Ranking
The 2010 UCI World Ranking was the second edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009; the following year it would be merged with the UCI ProTour to form the UCI World Tour. The series started with the Tour Down Under's opening stage on 19 January, and consisted of 13 stage races and 13 one-day races, culminating in the Giro di Lombardia on 16 October. Two new races, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal were added to the ProTour series, and consequently to the ranking schedule. These two Canadian events, and the Tour Down Under, were the only races in the series to take place outside Europe. The Bretagne Classic, also called Bretagne Classic Ouest–France, is an elite cycling classic held annually in late summer around the Breton village of Plouay in western France. The race was originally named Grand–Prix de Plouay and, from 1989 to 2015, GP Ouest–France. It was included in the inaugural UCI ProTour in 2005 and in 2011 in its successor, the UCI World Tour. Since 2016 it is called Bretagne Classic Ouest–France. Since 2002, a women's event, the GP Plouay–Bretagne is organized on Saturday, the day before the men's race. Supporting events have grown over the years and now include BMX races, track racing and a mass-participation ride, as part of a four–day festival in the last summer weekend in Brittany. Romain Feillu
Romain Feillu (born 16 April 1984) is a French former road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2006 and 2019. He is the older brother of Brice Feillu, who also competed professionally as a cyclist. Career Feillu was born in Châteaudun, Eure-et-Loir. In August 2005, Feillu joined as a trainee ( stagiaire) and impressed his team managers, resulting in a professional contract. During the 2006 season he won the Grand Prix Tours as well as the overall rankings of the Tour de la Somme. In 2007 he won a stage in the Tour de Luxembourg and the Circuit de l'Aulne. In that year he also made his Tour de France debut finishing three times in the top 10 in mass sprints. He withdrew after stage 8, which was the second mountain stage. Marco Marcato (born 11 February 1984) is an Italian former racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in San Donà di Piave, Veneto, Marcato won the Tour de Vendée in 2011, and Paris–Tours in 2012: in the latter of these he took the Ruban Jaune as the holder of the record for the fastest average speed in a race of over , at the time. For the 2014 season, Marcato joined , after his previous team – – folded at the end of the 2013 season. Francesco Gavazzi (born 1 August 1984) is an Italian professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Career Gavazzi was born in Morbegno. In 2012, Gavazzi participated in the Tour of Beijing and won its queen stage leading to the Great Wall of China. To add to the difficulty of the day, the air quality was deemed as "severely polluted" by the local authorities. Gavazzi closed down an attack by 's Edvald Boasson Hagen and grabbed the victory. José Joaquín Rojas Gil (born 8 June 1985) is a Spanish professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Rojas turned professional in 2006 with . UCI ProTour
The UCI ProTour was a series of road bicycle races in Europe, Australia and Canada organised by the UCI (International Cycling Union). Created by Hein Verbruggen, former president of the UCI, it comprises a number of 'ProTour' cycling teams, each of whom are required to compete in every round of the series. It was initially the basis of a season long competition for rankings points, created for 2005 to replace the UCI Road World Cup series, which ended at the end of the 2004 season (although the World Cup did not include any stage races). The ProTour was the subject of continuing disputes involving the UCI, cycling teams, and the organizers of the world's most prominent bicycle races (most notably, the Grand Tours), and in 2009 and 2010 the ranking element of the ProTour was superseded by the UCI World Ranking. The 2009 GP Ouest-France was a one-day road race which took place on 23 August 2009 in Plouay, France. The race was held over , which is 12 laps of a circuit. 2009 was the fifth time that the race has been part of the UCI ProTour, but the race can be dated back to 1931 at its present location. The race was won by the Australian Simon Gerrans, his first victory in a major one-day race. Frenchman Pierrick Fédrigo came in second, with Paul Martens of Germany coming in third. Gerrans won a sprint from a five-man breakaway group which also included Anthony Roux of France and Dan Martin of Ireland.
