2010 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 M) – Men's 100 Metre Breaststroke
The Men's 100 Breaststroke at the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) was swum 15–16 December 2010 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. On 15 December, 85 individuals swam in the Preliminary heats in the morning, with the top-16 finishers advancing to swim again in the Semifinals that night. The top-8 finishers from the Semifinals then advanced to swim in the Final the next evening. Cameron Van Der Burgh
Cameron van der Burgh OIS (born 25 May 1988) is a retired South African competitive swimmer and hedge fund analyst. He is Africa's first home-trained world record holder and individual male Olympic Champion. He is married to long time partner Nefeli Valakelis. Swimming career Van der Burgh trains with Dirk Lange and is based in Pretoria. He has represented South Africa at the 2008 Summer Olympics, at the 2012 Summer Olympics where he won the gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke in a new world record, and the 2016 Olympics. He has won numerous World Championship medals since his debut in 2007 when he took a bronze medal. Three times he has won the FINA overall World Cup. Van der Burgh set his first world long-course record (27.06s) in the 50 m breaststroke in the semifinals at South African nationals in April 2009, cutting 0.12 of a second from Oleg Lisogor's old world record set in 2002. Lennart Stekelenburg
Lennart Stekelenburg (born 22 October 1986) is a Dutch swimmer who specialises in breaststroke. He is the current national record holder in the 50 m, 100 m and 200 m breaststroke at the long course and is part of the 4 × 100 m relay team who hold the Dutch long course record. Swimming career After winning a silver medal in the 50 m breast and a bronze medal in the 100 m breast at the European Junior Swimming Championships 2004 in Lisbon, Portugal. Stekelenburg made his international senior debut at the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where he was eliminated in both 50 m and 100 m breaststroke. Laurent Carnol
Laurent Carnol (born 17 October 1989) is a Luxembourgish swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. Carnol set national records of 1:01.39 (100 m) and 2:09.78 (200 m) in the men's breaststroke at the 2010 European Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and at the 2012 European Long Course Meet in Luxembourg City, respectively. Carnol is also a member of SC Le Dauphin Ettelbruck under his personal coach Ian Armiger, and currently, a chemistry student at Loughborough University in Leicestershire, England. Carnol made his first Luxembourgian team, as a 19-year-old, at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Tomáš Klobučník
Tomáš Klobučník (born June 21, 1990 in Topoľčany) is a Slovak swimmer, who specializes in breaststroke events. He is a multiple-time Slovak swimming champion and record holder in the 100 and 200 m breaststroke, and also, a two-time Swimmer of the Year (2009 and 2011) by the Slovak Swimming Federation. Klobucnik is also a resident athlete for J&T Sport Team Bratislava, and is coached and trained by Gabriel Baran. Jakob Jóhann Sveinsson (born 24 November 1982 in Reykjavík, Iceland) is a 4-time Olympic swimmer from Iceland who started swimming for S.C. Ægir in 1991. He swam for Iceland at the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2000 Olympics, he swam to Iceland's high-ever result in Olympic swimming in finishing 25th. Edoardo Giorgetti
Edoardo Giorgetti (born 5 February 1989) is an Italian breaststroke swimmer. In 2006, Giorgetti was Junior World Champion in 100 m and 200 m breaststroke, and in 4×100 m medley relay. In 2007, Giorgetti was Junior European Champion in 200 m breaststroke and won the silver medal in 100 m of the same stroke behind Dániel Gyurta. Warren Barnes (born May 6, 1985) is a former Canadian swimmer. He was a National Team Member, and University of Pittsburgh alumnus. He competed on the Canadian National Team from 2009-2012, and won the last race of his career at Canadian Nationals in 2013. He is a five time National Champion in the breaststroke events. His first career win was in 2010, and he also set two Ontario records that year. His most notable accomplishment was his 4th-place finish at the Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico 2011. Viatcheslav Sinkevich (born November 29, 1991 in Krasnoobsk) is a Russian swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the Men's 200 metre breaststroke, finishing in 9th place overall in the heats, qualifying for the semi final, but failing to reach the final. He was also part of Russia's 4 x 100 m medley relay team at that Olympics; that team also failed to reach the final.
