2010 European Athletics Championships – Women's 3000 Metres Steeplechase
The women's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2010 European Athletics Championships was held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on 28 and 30 July. Medalists In the original running of the event, Marta Dominguez of Spain was awarded the silver medal, but she was disqualified and her result nullified. As a result Lyubov Kharlamova was promoted to the silver medal, and Hattie Archer, who at the time ran under her maidan name of Hattie Dean, was awarded the bronze medal, the first major women's medal for a British steeplechaser. On 18 August 2017 Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced that Kharlamova had also been disqualified for doping offences following retesting. As a result, she too was disqualified, and her result nullified. As a result, Archer/Dean will be promoted to the silver medal, and Wioletta Frankiewicz of Poland will be promoted to the bronze medal, although reallocations have yet to be confirmed. 2010 European Athletics Championships
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. They were held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 27 July to 1 August 2010. Barcelona was the first Spanish city to host the European Championships. The European Athletics Championships is a biennial event (since 2010), which began in 1934. European Athletics accepts only athletes who are representing one of the organisation's European member states and the body recognises records set at editions of the European Athletics Championships. The Championships records in athletics are the best marks set in competitions at the event. The athletics events at the Championships are divided into four groups: track events (including sprints, middle- and long-distance running, hurdling and relays), field events (including javelin, discus, hammer, pole vault, long and triple jumps), road events and combined events (the heptathlon and decathlon). Marta Domínguez
Marta Domínguez Azpeleta (born 3 November 1975) is a Spanish former runner and politician. She competes mainly in the steeplechase. She has represented Spain four times at the Olympics and has competed at the World Championships on six occasions. As a 5000m runner, Domínguez won a bronze at the 1998 European Athletics Championships and reached the global podium at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, winning the silver medal. She scored a gold medal double in 2002 by taking a 3000 metres win at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, before going on to become European champion at the 2002 European Championships. She achieved silver medals in the same events at the IAAF World Indoor Championships and 2003 World Championships in Athletics the following year. Milcah Chemos Cheywa
Milcah Chemos Cheywa (born 24 February 1986 in Bugaa, Mount Elgon District) is a runner from Kenya who specialises in 3000 metres steeplechase. She was, until 2015, African record holder at the distance and is the gold medalist of the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. Early life She is from Bugaa village, but moved to Kitale with her family, where she went to Matumbei and St Phillips primary schools.
