Canoe Sprint European Championships
The Canoe Sprint European Championships (or European Canoe Sprint Championships) is an international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was first held in 1933 in Prague under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. In 1997, the European Championships were resumed, and now take place annually. The most titled athlete of the European Championships is Hungarian Katalin Kovács, who has 29 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in her record. Vadzim Henadzevich Makhneu ( be, Вадзім Генадзевіч Махнеў) or Vadim Makhnev russian: Вадим Махнев; born 21 December 1979) is a Belarusian flatwater canoeist who has competed since 2000. Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won four medals with a gold (K-4 1000 m: 2008), a silver (K-2 200m: 2012) and two bronzes (K-2 500 m: 2004, 2008). Career In 2001 he was promoted to the senior K-4 boat and won his first senior medals at the European championships in Milan (K-4 500 m bronze and K-4 1000 m bronze). A year later the same crew went to the world championships in Seville and took the K-4 500 m silver medal. In 2003, Makhneu formed a K-2 partnership with Raman Piatrushenka, moving to Mozyr to work under Piatrushenka's coach Vladimir Shantarovich. Max Hoff (born 12 September 1982) is a German sprint canoeist and former wildwater canoeist who has competed since the late 2000s. He has won a total of eight medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with five golds (K-1 1000 m: 2009, 2010, 2013; K-1 5000 m: 2011 and K-4 1000 m: 2011 ) and three silvers (K-1 5000 m: 2010, 2014, 2015). Anders Karl Gustaf Gustafsson (born 7 April 1979 in Jönköping) is a Swedish sprint canoeist who has competed since the mid-2000s.
