2009–10 Colorado Avalanche Season
The 2009–10 Colorado Avalanche season was the franchise's 38th season, 31st in the National Hockey League (NHL) and 15th as the Colorado Avalanche. Off-season On June 3, 2009, the Avalanche began a complete overhaul of the coaching staff by firing head coach Tony Granato, along with assistants coaches Jacques Cloutier and Dave Barr, goaltending coach Jeff Hackett, assistant to the general manager Michel Goulet and video coordinator PJ DeLuca. Also on June 3, the Avalanche hired Greg Sherman as their new general manager, replacing Francois Giguere, who had been fired in April. On June 4, Joe Sacco was hired to be the new head coach. Before Sacco's hiring, an offer had been made to former Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy to become head coach, which Roy declined. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981–82 NHL season, 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The names of conferences and divisions were changed in 1993–94 NHL season, 1993 to reflect their geographic locations. Dave Barr (ice Hockey)
David Angus Barr (born November 30, 1960) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Hartford Whalers, Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils and Dallas Stars. He was previously an assistant coach for the Florida Panthers (June 2016 - July 2017), Buffalo Sabres (July 2015 – June 2016), New Jersey Devils (July 2011 – December 2014), Minnesota Wild (July 2009 – April 2011), Colorado Avalanche (July 2008 – June 2009), and San Jose Sharks (July 2017 – December 2019). Atlanta Thrashers
The Atlanta Thrashers were a professional ice hockey team based in Atlanta. Atlanta was granted a franchise in the National Hockey League (NHL) on June 25, 1997, and became the League's 28th franchise when it began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, 1999–2000 season. They were members of the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division of the NHL's Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference, and played their home games at what is now known as Philips Arena, State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta. Kyle Cumiskey
Kyle Cumiskey (born December 2, 1986) is a Canadians, Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing with the Düsseldorfer EG in the DEL2. Cumiskey won the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals, 2015 Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks. Playing career As a youth, Cumiskey played in the 1999 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Abbotsford, British Columbia. He later played one year of Jr.A. hockey with the Penticton Panthers of the BCHL. He was not selected in the 2001 WHL Bantam Draft, and signed as a free agent with the Kelowna Rockets in 2003. Cumiskey played junior hockey for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League for three seasons, scoring 79 points in 177 games.
