2009 World Port Tournament
The 2009 World Port Tournament is an international baseball competition held at the DOOR Neptunus Familiestadion in Rotterdam, The Netherlands from July 2–12, 2009. It was the 12th edition of the tournament and featured teams from Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Japan and the Netherlands. Originally, USA Baseball would send an All-Star team from the Great South League, but due to missing papers, the team had to withdrew from the tournament, one day before starting. The organization of the tournament decided that the four teams would meet each other a third time in the tournament. Group stage Standings ' Game 10 was postponed due to rain to Thursday morning, right before Game 13. Due to this double game, it was rule out to continue after the end of the 9th inning. It was the first time ever since 1989, that a full game ended in a tie. World Port Tournament
The World Port Tournament is an international baseball tournament held at the ''Neptunus Familiestadion'' in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The tournament has been held every other year ( excluded) in odd-numbered years since , alternating with the Haarlem Baseball Week. The tournament was created by Bram Peper, who was asked by Cuban Dr. Oscar Ferdinand Mell to organize an international baseball tournament, between national baseball teams all over the world, in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The 2017 World Port Tournament, the sixteenth edition of the event, was won by Chinese Taipei, winning the tournament the second time in history. Adonis García
Adonis García Arrieta (born April 12, 1985) is a Cuban former professional baseball third baseman. He played in the Cuban National Series from 2004 through 2011, and then defected from Cuba to play for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). David Franciscus Johan Bergman (born 16 August 1981 in Haarlem, the Netherlands) is a Dutch baseball player who currently plays for Kinheim of the Honkbal Hoofdklasse baseball league. Career Bergman started his career at Haarlem based Nicols and later at DSS. The longest period of his career he played for Pioniers from Hoofddorp. He was first selected for the Netherlands' youth squad in 1997 for which he played three seasons. In these years he became European Champion for three consecutive years.
