2009 Vuelta A Castilla Y León
The 2009 Vuelta a Castilla y León was the 24th edition of the Vuelta a Castilla y León road cycling stage race, started on 23 March in Paredes de Nava, and concluded on 27 March in Valladolid. The race was won by Levi Leipheimer. Levi Leipheimer
Levi Leipheimer (born October 24, 1973) is an American former professional road racing cyclist. He was twice US national champion, winning the time trial title in 1999 and the road race in 2007, and is an Olympic medalist. Leipheimer was born and raised in Butte, Montana and resides in Santa Rosa, California. He is the patron of the widely attended King Ridge GranFondo, a mass participation ride in Sonoma County. Leipheimer's major career accomplishments include winning the 2007, 2008 and 2009 editions of the Tour of California, the 2011 Tour de Suisse and the 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge. His Grand Tour results include 2nd in the 2008 Vuelta a España, and 4th in the 2009 Giro d'Italia. Leipheimer won the bronze medal in the time trial at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. José Joaquín Rojas
José Joaquín Rojas Gil (born 8 June 1985) is a Spanish professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Rojas turned professional in 2006 with . His older brother Mariano Rojas, was a professional cyclist as well, riding for until 1996. He died in the same year as a result of a traffic accident. Rojas was selected to ride the 2012 Tour de France, but crashed out on Stage 3, with a fractured left collarbone, the second retirement of the 2012 Tour after 's Kanstantsin Sivtsov. Rojas was again selected to ride the 2013 Tour de France and finished 79th overall, one of the highest GC placings among the sprinters; he also finished in 7th place in the points classification with 156 points. Juan José Cobo
Juan José Cobo Acebo (born 21 February 1981 in Torrelavega, Cantabria) is a retired Spanish professional road racing cyclist. He won the 2011 Vuelta a España as a rider, his first and only major title but in July 2019 he was stripped of this title after being found guilty of doping by the UCI. He was considered a climber who also is able to time trial. On 13 June 2019, the UCI stated that Cobo had been found guilty of a doping violation, based on his biological passport data. Biography In 2003, Cobo won the Spanish under-23 time-trial championships. He was selected for the national team in the European Championships, in Athens in August, and for the World Championships in Hamilton, Canada, in October. Javier Moreno Bazán (born 18 July 1984) is a Spanish professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Continental team . Prior to this, Moreno has also competed for the , , , and teams. Career Moreno was born in Jaén. In 2009, Moreno won the third annual Criterium Ciudad de Jaén race, an unofficial two-day competition held during the off-season of the UCI World Tour circuit. Moreno was named in the start list for the 2016 Giro d'Italia, but abandoned the race on Stage 7. After five years with Movistar, in September 2016 Moreno announced that he would join for the 2017 season, with a role as a domestique for Vincenzo Nibali and with his main focus for the season being the Giro d'Italia. Rubén Plaza Molina (born 29 February 1980) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who competed professionally between 2001 and 2019 for the , S.L. Benfica, , (over three spells), , and teams. During his career, he recorded a top 5 overall placing in the 2005 Vuelta a España, and won three Grand Tour stages. Career Plaza was born in Ibi, Spain. Sahagún
Sahagún () is a town and municipality of Spain, part of the autonomous community of Castile and León and the province of León. It is the main populated place in the Leonese part of the Tierra de Campos natural region. Sahagún contains some of the earliest examples of the mudéjar architecture. It lies on the Way of St. James and is often considered the half-way point between St. Jean Pied de Port and Santiago de Compostela. Denis Nikolayevich Menchov (russian: Денис Николаевич Меньшов; born 25 January 1978) is a former professional Russian road bicycle racer, who rode as a professional between 2000 and 2013. He was best known as a general classification rider, a climbing specialist, climber and an accomplished time trialist. Stef Clement (born 24 September 1982 in Tilburg) is a Dutch former professional cyclist, who competed between 2003 and 2018 for the Van Hemert Groep CT, , , and squads. He specialized in the time trial discipline, winning the Dutch National Time Trial Championships on four occasions. He also won the bronze medal in the 2007 World Championships time trial. In December 2014 he was announced as part of the squad for the team for 2015, joining the team alongside fellow rider David Tanner. He returned to the renamed team in 2017, when folded. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream.
