2009 Superstars Series Season
The 2009 Superstars Series season was the sixth season of the Campionato Italiano Superstars (Italian Superstars Championship) and the third season of the International Superstars Series. Both championships were won by Gianni Morbidelli driving for BMW. Gianni Morbidelli
Gianni Morbidelli (born 13 January 1968) is an Italian racing driver. He participated in 70 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 11 March 1990. He achieved one podium, and scored a total of 8.5 championship points. He currently competes in the TCR International Series. Racing career Early career Morbidelli was born in Pesaro. His father, Giancarlo Morbidelli, was the founder of the Morbidelli motorcycle company which had some success in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Morbidelli started karting in 1980. He won the EUR-AM championship in 1986, before moving to Italian Formula Three. He became Italian Formula 3 and Formula 3 European Cup champion in 1989, as well as winning two races in Italian Touring Cars. He then moved to the Scuderia Italia Formula One team, doing the first 2 races of the F1 season as stand-in for Emanuele Pirro, before concentrating on Formula 3000. Luca Rangoni
Luca Rangoni (born 23 September 1968 in Bologna) is an Italian auto racing driver. He is a married man with one son. Early career Like many racing drivers, Rangoni's first taste of racing was in karts, where he spent four years. He made his debut in circuit racing in the 1989 Italian Formula Alfa Boxer Championship, where he finished sixth on points. This was followed by two years in the Italian F2000 Trophy, which he won in his second year in 1991. In 1993 he competed in the Italian Formula Three Championship, winning the title in 1995 in a Dallara- Fiat. His success the previous year led to a drive in the 1996 FIA International F3000 Championship. Despite only entering one round in Pau, he ended the year in seventeenth after coming sixth in the race. After his time in Formula 3000 he took a break from racing due to a family tragedy. Top Run Motorsport is an Italian auto racing team based in Castiglione Olona, Italy. The team currently races in the TCR International Series. Having previously rallied in the World Rally Championship, the team have won four Group N titles. TCR International Series Subaru Impreza STi (2015–) In April 2015 the team announced their plans to build a TCR-spec Subaru Impreza STi. The team announced their test drivers in August 2015, appointing Gian Maria Gabbiani and Roberto Russo, as the projects development drivers.
