2009 Formula Renault UK Season
The 2009 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship was the 21st British Formula Renault Championship. The season began at Brands Hatch on 5 April and ended at the same venue on 4 October, after twenty rounds held in England. Dean Smith won the title, despite missing the opening rounds of the series. Harry Tincknell won the Graduate Cup for first-year drivers. Formula Renault UK season Background Despite initial fears of the financial crisis of 2007–2008 causing a lack of entries into the championship, the series' grid increased from the previous season with a total of 26 entries prior to the championship's opening race at Brands Hatch. Manor Motorsport Ltd, currently trading as Manor Endurance Racing Ltd is a British motor racing company that was formed in 1990 by former single-seater champion John Booth. Manor has participated as a team in many motorsport disciplines since its inception, including Formula One. Maksim "Max" Sergeyevich Snegirev ( rus, Макси́м Серге́евич Снегирёв, p=mɐkˈsʲim sʲɪrˈɡʲejɪvʲɪtɕ sʲnʲɪɡʲɪˈrʲɵf; born 12 June 1987) is a Russian racing driver. He currently resides in London. Tempus Sport are a former British motor sport team based in Milton Keynes. The team was set up in 2008, with a view to first start racing in 2009. Some of the personnel are former employees of experienced team RML, including team director Richard Coleman. Racing series BTCC In 2009, the team planned to enter two 2008 specification Chevrolet Lacettis in the British Touring Car Championship. They had support throughout the season from RML who ran the works Chevrolet team in the World Touring Car Championship. Harry Vaulkhard, who drove a Lacetti in the BTCC in 2008 for Robertshaw Racing, drove one of the cars. Jesse Kurki-Suonio (born 3 September 1990), more commonly known as Jesse Krohn, is a Finnish professional racing driver, and BMW Motorsport works driver. Marlon Alexander Stöckinger (born April 4, 1991) is a Filipino former racing driver, who raced for Status Grand Prix in the 2012 GP3 Series. He is the first Filipino to win a formula race in Europe. Tamás Pál Kiss (born 19 May 1991 in Miskolc) is a Hungarian auto racing driver. Career Karting Kiss made his karting début in 1998 when he was seven years old. Atech Grand Prix was a British motor racing team. It was formed in 2007 as Hitech Junior Team by David Hayle, who had sold his successful British Formula 3 team Hitech Racing to Austrian businessman Walter Grubmuller, Sr. It was renamed Atech Grand Prix at the end of 2009.
