The 2009 European Championship of Ski Mountaineering ( it, Campionati Europei di Sci alpinismo 2009) was the eighth European Championship of ski mountaineering and was held in Alpago (Tambre, Italy) from February 19, 2009 to February 24, 2009. European Championships Of Ski Mountaineering
The European Championships of Ski Mountaineering were the European championships for national ski mountaineering teams 1992Claude Défago''The history of ski alpinisme'' (German). to 2009. They were held biannually and were separated in men's and women's competitions. The first championships were sanctioned by the Comité International du Ski-Alpinisme de Compétition (CISAC). After the CISAC was merged to the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC) of the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA), the competitions are held biannually by the ISCM. Since 2008, when the ISMC merged into the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) the championships have been sanctioned by the ISMF. Florent Troillet (born 7 June 1981) is a Swiss ski mountaineer. Troillet was born in Lourtier. He competed first in 1995. He has been member of the national team since 1996 and member of the Dynafit team since 2003. In 2007, in a team with Simon Anthamatten (leader), Ernest Farquet and Marcel Marti, he climbed the Matterhorn via the Swiss side in a record time of 3 hours 45 minutes. Tony Sbalbi AKA "Tony the tiger" (born 4 September 1969) is a French ski mountaineer and non-commissioned officer of the ''chasseurs alpins'' corps. Sbalbi was born in Aix-en-Provence. Kílian Jornet (; born 27 October 1987) is a Spanish professional sky runner, trail runner, ski mountaineer and long-distance runner. He is a six-time champion of the long-distance running Skyrunner World Series and has won some of the most prestigious ultramarathons, including the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, Grand Raid, the Western States Endurance Run and the Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run. Jornet holds the fastest known time speed record for the ascent and descent of major mountains including the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. He also previously held speed records for Aconcagua, Denali, and Kilimanjaro, all of which were eventually broken by Karl Egloff.
