2009 Cape Verdean Cup
The 2009 Cape Verdean Cup (''Taça Nacional de Cabo Verde de 2009'') season was the 3rd competition of the regional football cup in Cape Verde. The season started on 20 July and finished with the cup final on 2 August. The cup competition was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation (Federação Caboverdiana de Futebol, FCF). Group A matches took place at Estádio Adérito Sena in Mindelo, São Vicente and Group B matches took place at Estádio Marcelo Leitão in Espargos. The final stage containing two semifinal matches and a final were played at Estádio da Várzea. Boavista Praia won their first of two cup title. A total of nine clubs participated, five in Group A and four in Group B. Académica Da Praia
Associação Académica da Praia is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the Santiago Island League (South) in Cape Verde. It is played along with Praia's three other famous teams in Estádio da Varzea, the club also practices at the stadium and over a kilometer east in Achada Grande Frente (or Leite). Its current president is Kiki and manager is Janito Carvalho who coached Sporting Praia in the previous season. Batuque Futebol Clube (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC: ''Batuki Futibol Klubi'', São Vicente: ''Batúque Futebol Klube'') is a football club that plays in the São Vicente Premier Division in Cape Verde. Futebol Clube Belo Horizonte is a football club that plays in the São Nicolau Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in Juncalinho in the eastern part of the island of São Nicolau. About the club FC Belo Horizonte's first title was a cup title won in 2006, their second was won in 2009 and brought the club to their only appearance in the Cape Verdean Cup, the club had the region's most up since. The Porto Novo Cup is a regional football (soccer) cup competition played during the season in the southern and westernmost parts of Santo Antão Island, Cape Verde. The winner participates in the Cape Verdean Cup.
