Porto Novo Cup
The Porto Novo Cup is a regional football (soccer) cup competition played during the season in the southern and westernmost parts of Santo Antão Island, Cape Verde. The winner participates in the Cape Verdean Cup. The cup tournament is organized by the Santo Antão South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Zona Sul do Santo Antão, ARFZSSA). The first entrant was in 2007. Since 2013, there were no entrants to the national cup due to financial concerns. From the 2015 edition, the winner qualifies into the Santo Antão Cup, a single island cup competition challenging a club from the north. The Porto Novo Super Cup, known as the Filipe de Bitú Super Cup (Portuguese: ''Super-Taça de Filipe de Bitú'') is a regional football (soccer) super cup competition played during the season in the southern and westernmost parts of Santo Antão Island, Cape Verde. The super cup is organized by the Santo Antão South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Zona Sul do Santo Antão, ARFZSSA). The regional champion competes with a regional cup winner. When a club wins both the regional championship and cup for the season, the club competes with a cup finalist. The first edition was held in 2007. Since the 2015 edition, the winner qualifies into the Santo Antão Super Cup, a single island competition. Football or soccer competitions had and have taken part in the island of Santo Antão. The island championship existed for nine years. The single island cup and super cup competitions were introduced in late 2015. The cup and super cup are held along with two other regional versions. The opening tournament is a single island competition.
