2008 World Enduro Championship Season
The 2008 World Enduro Championship was the 19th season in the FIM World Enduro Championship. The season consisted of eight events and 16 races. Last season's Enduro 2 champion, Honda's Mika Ahola, took his second world championship title now racing in the Enduro 1 class. In the Enduro 2 class, Yamaha's Johnny Aubert won his first world championship, becoming the first racer to defeat Juha Salminen since the 1998 season. With nine wins, Salminen broke compatriot Kari Tiainen's record (77) for most wins in the series. Samuli Aro
Samuli Aro (born 12 April 1975 in Järvenpää) is a Finnish enduro rider. He is a five-time World Enduro Champion and has also won the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) World Trophy with Team Finland five times. Aro debuted in the World Enduro Championship in 1998, and took his first world title in 2002 with Husqvarna in the 250 cc class. After moving to KTM for the 2003 season, he placed second in the championship behind Honda's Stefan Merriman. He went on to win the World Enduro Championship three times in a row; in 2004 in the Enduro 3 class, and in 2005 and 2006 in the Enduro 2 class. Mende, Lozère
Mende (, ) is a commune and the prefecture of the department of Lozère, in the region of Occitania, Southern France. Its inhabitants are called the ''Mendois''. Iván Cervantes Montero (born 2 May 1982) is a Spanish motorcycle enduro racer from Cambrils (Tarragona) and a four-times world enduro champion. Career Cervantes started out as a motocross rider, a discipline in which he holds five Spanish national titles, before moving on to enduro racing. In 2005, at the age of 23, he made motorcycle racing history by becoming the first Spanish enduro world champion in category E1 enduro (100 to 125 cc two-stroke or 175 - 250 cc four-stroke).
