2008 Nationwide Tour
The 2008 Nationwide Tour season ran from January 24 to November 9. The season consisted of 30 official money golf tournaments, five of which were played outside the United States. The top 25 players on the year-end money list earned their PGA Tour card for 2009. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2008 season. Matt Bettencourt
Matt Bettencourt (born April 12, 1975) is an American professional golfer. Born in Alameda, California, Bettencourt turned professional in 2001 after attending Modesto Junior College. In 2008, Bettencourt won twice on the Nationwide Tour, at the Oregon Classic in September and a month and a half later at the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch. The second win took him from 12th to 1st in the money list, therefore earning him his 2009 PGA Tour card. He finished 111th on the PGA Tour money list in 2009 to retain his card for 2010. In 2010, he gained his first PGA Tour win at the Reno-Tahoe Open, one shot ahead of Bob Heintz after Heintz missed a birdie putt on the 72nd hole. This win ensures PGA Tour exemption for Bettencourt until the end of the 2012 season in a tough season that saw Bettencourt make 14 cuts in 32 appearances. Mexico Open (golf)
The Mexican Open ( es, Abierto Mexicano de Golf), also known as the Mexico Open and Abierto Mexicano de Golf, is the national open golf tournament of Mexico. History First played in 1944 at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, it was an event on the Tour de las Américas between 2003 and 2006, being co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour from 2004 to 2006. It became a Nationwide Tour event in 2008, and was rescheduled from December to January, which resulted in no tournament in 2007. Due to the outbreak of swine flu in 2009, the Mexican Open was rescheduled from May to September. In 2013, the tournament was moved to March and became an official event for PGA Tour Latinoamérica. The tournament would also be moved to Club de Golf Mexico. Greg Chalmers
Greg J. Chalmers (born 11 October 1973) is an Australian professional golfer. Chalmers has played primarily on the PGA Tour of Australasia and PGA Tour. He is a two-time winner of the Australian Open and late in his career eventually won a PGA Tour event, the 2016 Barracuda Championship. Amateur career Chalmers was born in Sydney. He won the 1993 Australian Amateur and the 1994 French Amateur. Professional career Chalmers turned professional in 1995 and made a strong start to his professional career, winning four times in Australia in the next few years, including the 1998 Australian Open. In Europe he won the second-tier Challenge Tour's Challenge Tour Championship, in 1997 and finished 25th on the European Tour Order of Merit in 1998. Robert Damron
Robert Douglas Damron (born October 27, 1972) is an American professional golfer, who has played on the PGA Tour. He is a studio analyst for the Golf Channel. Damron was born in Pikeville, Kentucky and raised there and later in Orlando, Florida after his father, a wealthy Kentucky coal magnate, moved the family to Bay Hill. Damron had the benefit of some early advice about golf from Bay Hill neighbor Arnold Palmer. He attended Orlando's Dr. Phillips High School graduating in 1990. Damron later attended the University of Central Florida in Orlando from 1991 to 1994, where he was a distinguished member of the golf team, earning All-American honors three times. He won five collegiate events while at UCF. He turned pro in 1994, becoming the first UCF student to earn a full-time berth on the PGA Tour.
