2008 Movistar Open
The 2008 Movistar Open was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 16th edition of the Movistar Open, and was part of the International Series of the 2008 ATP Tour. It took place at the Centro de Tenis Las Salinas in Viña del Mar, Chile, from January 28 through February 3, 2008. The field was headlined by 2007 Madrid Masters quarterfinalist, 2002 and 2004 Viña del Mar champion Fernando González, 2007 U.S. Open quarterfinalist and 2004 Viña del Mar doubles titlist Juan Ignacio Chela, and Auckland semifinalist Juan Mónaco. Other seeded players were 2007 St. Petersburg finalist Fernando Verdasco, Doha and Sydney quarterfinalist AgustÃn Calleri, Óscar Hernández, José Acasuso and Nicolás Massú. ATP International Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1997 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. They generally offered less prize money and fewer points than the ATP International Series Gold, but more than tournaments on the ATP Challenger Series. Máximo González Mereira (; born July 20, 1983, in Tandil) is an Argentine professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking is World No. 58, achieved in July 2009 and his career-high doubles ranking is World No. 22 achieved on 22 April 2019. Nicolás Massú
Nicolás Alejandro Massú Fried (; born 10 October 1979), nicknamed ''El Vampiro'' (Spanish, 'the vampire'), is a Chilean former professional tennis player. A former world No. 9 in singles, he won the singles and doubles gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He is the only man to have won both gold medals at the same Games since the re-introduction of Olympic tennis in 1988, and they are Chile's only two Olympic gold medals.
