2008 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The 2008 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 114th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. Adare were the defending champions. On 19 October 2008, Adare won the championship after a 0–13 to 0–08 defeat of Ahane in the final. It was their fourth championship title overall and their second title in succession. Adare GAA
Adare GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA club based in Adare, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland. Adare have reached the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, County Senior Hurling Final on 12 occasions. After losing the finals of 1968, 1986, 1990, 1993 and 1996, they finally won their first championship in 2001 and successfully defended it in 2002. In 2003, they narrowly missed out on winning three county titles in a row after losing out to Patrickswell GAA, Patrickswell in the final. Ger O'Loughlin
Ger 'Sparrow' O'Loughlin (born 5 September 1967 in Clarecastle, County Clare, Ireland) is an Irish former hurling Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former player. An effective forward, O'Loughlin enjoyed a successful playing career at club level with Clarecastle GAA, Clarecastle and at inter-county level with Clare. He was a key member of the latter team during the 'golden age' of the 1990s and collected two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland titles and three Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster titles in the space of four years. After a successful spell as manager of his native club Clarecastle, O'Loughlin took charge of the Adare GAA, Adare club in Limerick. Ahane GAA
Ahane GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Ahane, Castleconnell and Montpelier areas of east County Limerick, Republic of Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and football and historically is regarded as one of the great clubs of Limerick. Some other class players were the Mackey brothers, Mick and John and Jackie Power among others. Niall Moran
Niall Moran (born 1 March 1983) is an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward for the Limerick senior team. Born in Castleconnell, County Limerick, Moran first played competitive hurling whilst at Ardscoil Rís. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Limerick minor team, before later lining out with the under-21 side. He made his senior debut in the 2003 championship. Moran went on to play a key part in the forwards for a decade, and won one Munster medal and one National Hurling League (Division 2) medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team at various times, Moran won one Railway Cup medal in 2007. At club level he won two championship medals with Ahane. Moran's career tally of 7 goals and 97 points ranks him as Limerick's sixth highest championship scorer of all-time. The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland.
