2008 Dubai Explosion
The 2008 Dubai explosion was an industrial explosion at a fireworks factory in the Al Quoz Industrial area on March 26, 2008, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. One died in the explosion and another died from his injuries at Rashid Hospital. Other than the two killed, two more people were injured in the explosion. Over 20 of the 83 buildings in the area were engulfed in flames. Al Quoz ( ar, القوز), or "El Goze" in Emirati Arabic is a locality / town in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Al Quoz is located in western Dubai. It is bordered to the north by Al Wasl and to the west by Umm Al Sheif, Al Manara and Al Safa, forming a long rectangle between Al Khail and Sheikh Zayed roads. Al Quoz is mainly known for its art galleries, factories, parks, and eateries. The earliest written record of Dubai (''Dibei'') is accredited to Muhammad al-Idrisi, who mapped the coast of the UAE in the tenth century AD.
