2008 Colorado Crush Season
The 2008 Colorado Crush season is the sixth season for the franchise. The Crush finished the regular season with a 6–10 record, good enough for the playoffs as the 5th seed in the American Conference. In the Wild Card round, they defeated division rival Utah, 49–44. In the Divisional round, they were defeated by the defending champions, the San Jose SaberCats, 51–64. Mike Dailey
Mike Dailey is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at McDaniel College from 2016 to 2018, compiling a record of 9–21. Dailey was a head coach in the Arena Football League for the Albany Firebirds and the Colorado Crush. During his time in the Arena Football League, he won two ArenaBowls and was named AFL Coach of the Year in 1999. He is fifth all time in wins with a career record of 115–84, including an 11–8 mark in the postseason. Under his leadership, the Firebirds won ArenaBowl XIII in 1999, defeating the Orlando Predators led by Jay Gruden, former head coach of the Washington Redskins. Dallas Desperados
The Dallas Desperados were a professional arena football team based in Dallas, Texas. The Desperados played in the Eastern Division of the Arena Football League from 2002 to 2008. The franchise began play in as an expansion team, and have posted a winning record in all but one of their seasons in existence. The team was owned by Jerry Jones, who also owns the Dallas Cowboys. Jones' son-in-law Shy Anderson was the COO of the team, and oversaw the day-to-day operations of the franchise. The team folded effective August 4, 2009, upon the dissolving of the original AFL. The Columbus Destroyers were an Arena Football League (AFL) team based in Columbus, Ohio, with home games in Nationwide Arena. The team was founded in as the Buffalo Destroyers, based in Buffalo, New York, and relocated to Columbus in . They folded along with the original incarnation of the AFL following the 2008 season, after a total of ten seasons of play. The 2008 New York Dragons season is the 14th season for the franchise, their eighth season in New York. The Dragons finished the regular season with an 8–8 record, and were able to take the 6th and final playoff seed in the National Conference by virtue of winning a tiebreaker scenario over the New Orleans VooDoo. The Dragons won their Wild Card round game, upsetting the Dallas Desperados 77–63. The Desperados had defeated the Dragons in both regular season meetings. The San Jose SaberCats season was the 14th season for the franchise. The SaberCats looked to improve on their 13–3 record from 2007 and defend their ArenaBowl title. Finishing the regular season with an 11–5 record, though not as successful as the previous season, still won them a third consecutive Western Division title, and they went into the playoffs as the 2nd seed in the American Conference. In their Divisional round game, they defeated the Colorado Crush, 64–51, to advance to the American Conference Championship. In that game, the SaberCats defeated the Grand Rapids Rampage 81–55, to advance to their second consecutive ArenaBowl.
