The New Brunswick New Democratic Party held a leadership election, following the resignation of Allison Brewer, on November 6, 2006 subsequent to their previous convention on September 25, 2005. Allison Brewer
Allison Brewer (born July 15, 1954) is a Canadian social activist and politician, and the former leader of the New Brunswick New Democratic Party. She has been particularly active in areas of lesbian and gay rights and access to abortion. She is openly lesbian. Biography Brewer was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She was the founder and longtime director of Dr. Henry Morgentaler's abortion clinic in Fredericton, New Brunswick, before moving to Nunavut in 2000. In Nunavut, she continued her activism organizing gay pride events and lobbying for the passage of the '' Nunavut Human Rights Act''. A prominent member of Egale Canada, she was one of its two representatives to the United Nations Conference on Women in 1995. Yvon Godin
Yvon Godin (born May 12, 1955) is a Canadian politician. Godin was a New Democratic Party (NDP) Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of Canada, representing the riding of Acadie—Bathurst from 1997 until his retirement in 2015. Previously, Godin was a labour representative for the United Steelworkers. He was the NDP critic for Labour and Official Languages in his last term in parliament. In 2003, he supported Bill Blaikie's campaign to lead the NDP. The New Democratic Party of New Brunswick leadership election of 2017 was called due to the resignation of New Brunswick New Democratic Party leader Dominic Cardy on January 1, 2017. The leadership election was scheduled for October 27, 2017. However, as the only candidate, Jennifer McKenzie registered at the close of nominations on August 4, 2017, the party executive confirmed McKenzie as party leader effective August 10, 2017. After almost six years as leader, Cardy resigned both as leader and as a member of the party, complaining of infighting as well as his disagreements with the policies of the party's federal counterpart, the New Democratic Party. Miramichi Bay-Neguac
Miramichi Bay-Neguac (french: Baie-de-Miramichi-Neguac) is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was formerly known more simply as Miramichi Bay. The riding was created from part of the multi-member Northumberland riding, and was first contested in 1974. At the 2013 boundary adjustment, the riding moved western and inland taking in the northeast parts of the City of Miramichi and rural areas to the north and west of the city. The riding's previous representative in the Legislative Assembly was Carmel Robichaud of the Liberal Party.
