2007 FEI European Jumping Championship
The 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship was the 29th edition of the European Show Jumping Championships. Running from August 14 to August 19, 2007, it was the second edition held at the MVV Riding Stadium in Mannheim, Germany, the previous being the 1997 championships. Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum of Germany won the individual jumping event, while the Netherlands won the team jumping event. Mannheim incorporated the event as part of its 400th anniversary celebrations. European Show Jumping Championships
The FEI European Show Jumping Championships is the European Championship for the equestrian discipline of show jumping. First held in 1957 in Rotterdam, and on an annual basis, it is held every two years, on the years between Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals are awarded in both the individual and, since 1975, team competition. There are also championships held for young riders, juniors, ponies, children and veterans. The most recent edition in 2013 was held as part of a combined FEI European Championship, with dressage and para-dressage. Both David Broome and Paul Schockemöhle have won the individual title three times. The Federal Republic of Germany have won the team title seven times, with Great Britain next on four team wins. Albert Zoer
Albert Zoer (born 31 July 1975, in Echten, Drenthe) is a Dutch champion in show jumping. He owns his own business, called Zoer B.V., for breeding and training stallions, a venture with which his father, Arent Zoer, helps him. Background With two older sisters, Jenny and Gina, Zoer grew up on the farm in Echten which his father purchased in the year before his birth. This farm initially had only five stables, but from the time Zoer and his sisters were all riding horses, that number gradually increased to twenty and more. He began show jumping since the age of seven and he declares that his passion, or addiction to riding horses made him dislike having to go to school. At the age of sixteen, Zoer was a member of the victorious Dutch team at the 1989 European Pony Championships. Michael Whitaker
Michael Whitaker (born 17 March 1960) is a British Olympic equestrian rider, who competes in the sport of show jumping. He was ranked 5th by the British Showjumping Association in March 2014. Career Younger brother of John Whitaker, Michael began competing on ponies at the age of 5. At the age of 16, he made his debut in international competitions and in 1980 he became the second youngest winner of the Hickstead Derby, at the age of 20. In September 1993 he took over from his brother John as the internationally top-ranked show jumping rider. In 2009 Whitaker was banned from competition for four months after his stallion Tackeray tested positive for a synthetic hormone altrenogest during a competition in France. John Whitaker (equestrian)
John Whitaker MBE (born 5 August 1955, Huddersfield) is a British equestrian and Olympian who competes in show jumping. He has won numerous international medals including an olympic silver medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles. He is also the managing director of John Whitaker International Limited which produces tack and equestrian clothing. Ellen Whitaker (born 5 March 1986) is an English show jumping rider, currently ranked 191 on the FEI riders Longines Ranking list in July 2022. Career Competing since the age of 5, Whitaker has had much experience in the equestrian world and qualified for HOYS at just 8 years old. In 2006, Whitaker and her father Steven Whitaker were hit with a legal dispute over ownership of thirteen horses, including her top horse Locarno. However, a few months later a peace deal was made. In 2007, Whitaker represented Great Britain in the European Championships and helped allow Britain to qualify for the Olympics after jumping triple clear. She missed out on being selected for the 2008 Beijing Olympics due to lameness in horse Locarno 62. Marcus Ehning (born 19 April 1974 in Südlohn, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German show jumping champion, Olympic champion from 2000. He is married to Nadia Ehning (née Zülow). He won the Longines Global Champions Tour of Vienna Grand Prix on Plot Blue in September 2014. Horses Marcus Ehning joined the equestrian world when he was 7 years old. His firsts horses, which let him learn and take confidence in low and medium level shows, were Lord, Metal, Starlight, Queen and Bright Ruby. Then he started obtaining great results in higher level competitions mostly thanks to Orchidee, Opium and Talan.
