2007 European Cup Winter Throwing
The 2007 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 17 and 18 March at Avangard Stadium in Yalta, Ukraine. It was the seventh edition of the athletics competition for throwing events organised by the European Athletics Association. A total of 203 athletes from 26 countries entered the competition – a new high for the event. Summary The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. 2006 European Cup Winter Throwing
The 2006 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 18 and 19 March at Hadar Yosef Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel. It was the sixth edition of the athletics (sport), athletics competition for throwing events organised by the European Athletics Association. A total of 168 athletes from 28 countries entered the competition. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. Athletes were seeded into "A" and "B" groups in each competition. Polish and Russian athletes dominated the proceedings. Poland won five of the eight contests while Russia provided the silver medallist in six events. Russia was the winner in the men's and women's team points competition. Ivan Ryhoravich Tsikhan (born 24 July 1976) is a Belarusian hammer thrower. He is a two-time world champion and an Olympic medalist. Gerd Kanter (born 6 May 1979) is a retired Estonian discus thrower. He was the 2007 World Champion in the event and won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and bronze in London 2012. His personal best throw of 73.38 m is the Estonian record and the third best mark of all time.
