2007 Epping Forest District Council Election
Elections to Epping Forest Council were held on 3 May 2007. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party regained overall control of the council, thanks initially to a by-election in Grange Hill in December 2006, and then following gains at this election. The British National Party retained all its representation on the council with 6 seats, and marginally increased its vote share. The remaining Labour councillor, Peter Gode of Shelley retained his seat, albeit with a significantly reduced majority. The Conservatives, following gains from the Liberal Democrats regained control of the council having last had control in 1994. One Independent lost their seat to the Conservatives, leaving two remaining on the council. This election saw the Epping Community Action Group come third in both Epping wards. 2006 Epping Forest District Council Election
Elections to Epping Forest (district), Epping Forest Council were held on 4 May 2006. One third of the council was up for election and the council stayed under no overall control. The Labour Party (UK), Labour Party was reduced to one seat following wipeout of their representation in Loughton - remaining Labour councillor, Peter Gode of Shelley would resign in 2015. Stephen Murray, Labour councillor for Loughton Roding, defected and became an Independent (politician), Independent. Epping, Essex
Epping is a market town and civil parish in the Epping Forest district of the County of Essex, England. The town is northeast from the centre of London, is surrounded by the northern end of Epping Forest, and on a ridge of land between the River Roding and River Lea valleys. Epping is the terminus for London Underground's Central line. The town has a number of historic Grade I and II and Grade III listed buildings. The weekly market, which dates to 1253, is held each Monday. In 2001 the parish had a population of 11,047 which increased to 11,461 at the 2011 Census. Epping became twinned with the German town of Eppingen in north-west Baden-Württemberg in 1981. History "Epinga", a small community of a few scattered farms and a chapel on the edge of the forest, is mentioned in the ''Domesday Book'' of 1086. Epping Forest District Council Elections
The district of Epping Forest is in the county of Essex in England. It was created on 1 April 1974, following the merger of Epping Urban District, Chigwell Urban District, Waltham Holy Cross Urban District, and part of Epping and Ongar Rural District. Until 2002, Epping Forest District Council was represented by 59 councillors. In 2002 the ward boundaries were reorganised, resulting in the loss of one council seat, and since then the district has had 58 councillors representing 32 wards. Each ward is represented by one, two or three councillors, depending on the ward's population, so that each councillor represents a roughly equal proportion of the district's electorate. Councillors serve for a four-year term. They are elected on a "cycle of thirds", i.e. one third of the Council is elected each year, followed by one year without election. Robin Tilbrook
Robin C. W. Tilbrook (born 1958) is an English solicitor and political leader who chairs the English Democrats, a political party he founded. It advocates a devolved English Parliament, having previously advocated English independence from the United Kingdom. Early life Tilbrook was born in Kuala Lumpur, Federation of Malaya, in 1958. He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, gained a BA (Hons) in politics and economics from the University of Kent at Canterbury, and then studied at The College of Law, Chester. He was a Coldstream Guardsman and has worked in a factory, in junior management, and as a teacher at primary and secondary level. By 2003, he was a solicitor and a partner in the firm of Tilbrooks in Ongar, Essex. Loughton Residents Association is a residents association and local political party formed (as the Central Loughton Residents' Association) in 1981, and based in Loughton, Essex, United Kingdom. Loughton, Essex
Loughton () is a town and civil parish in the Epping Forest District of Essex. Part of the metropolitan and urban area of London, the town borders Chingford, Waltham Abbey, Theydon Bois, Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill, and is northeast of Charing Cross. The parish of Loughton covers part of Epping Forest, in 1996 some parts of the south of the old parish were transferred to Buckhurst Hill parish, and other small portions to Chigwell and Theydon Bois. It is the most populous civil parish in the Epping Forest district, and within Essex it is the second most populous civil parish (after Canvey Island) and the second largest in the area. The National Front (NF) is a far-right, fascist political party in the United Kingdom. It is currently led by Tony Martin. Ian Hugh Myddleton Anderson (1953 – 2 February 2011) was a leading figure on the British far-right in the 1980s and 1990s. Biography Early life Anderson was born in Hillingdon in 1953. His involvement in politics began in the mid-1970s when he was close to certain elements on the right of the Conservative Party, particularly the Monday Club. National Front Anderson joined the National Front in the late 1970s and was initially seen as a supporter of National Organiser Martin Webster. However, when the Political Soldier faction, led by figures such as Nick Griffin and Derek Holland, moved against Webster and his assistant Michael Salt, Anderson sided with the rebels and used his casting vote to ensure that Webster and Salt were expelled for mismanagement. A green belt is a policy and land-use zone designation used in land-use planning to retain areas of largely undeveloped, wild, or agricultural land surrounding or neighboring urban areas. Similar concepts are greenways or green wedges, which have a linear character and may run through an urban area instead of around it. In essence, a green belt is an invisible line designating a border around a certain area, preventing development of the area and allowing wildlife to return and be established. 2008 Epping Forest District Council Election
Elections to Epping Forest Council were held on 1 May 2008. One third of the council was up for election and the council remained in Conservative control. This election saw the largest Green competition. The Chigwell Residents Association's sole councillor, John Knapman, defected to join the Conservatives and won his seat of Chigwell Village. The Loughton Residents Association gained a seat, whilst the BNP lost almost half its representation, despite reaching a record high vote share in the district. One-third of council up for election.
