2007 COSAFA Cup
The 2007 COSAFA Cup was the 11th edition of the tournament. It was won by South Africa who beat Zambia 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw after extra time. Format In the first round, 12 teams were divided into 3 groups of 4 teams each. Each group played a knockout tournament. The winners of each group joined Zambia (holders) into the final round. Teko Tsholofelo Modise (born 22 December 1982), nicknamed The General and Techno M, is a South African retired professional footballer, former Bafana Bafana captain who played as a midfielder and who is currently a staff member at Cape Town City Football Club. Regarded as one of the greatest PSL players of the modern era today, Modise's career began in the lower leagues of South African football with Ria Stars and City Pillars. During his time with the latter, he won the Mvela Golden League Player of the Season award, which earned him a move to top-flight side SuperSport United in 2006. Lucas "Masterpieces" Moripe Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium having a capacity of 28,900 and is located in Atteridgeville, a township (South Africa) of Pretoria, South Africa. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as part-time home stadium of Premier Soccer League clubs Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns who also use the Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Emmanuel Mayuka (born 21 November 1990) is a Zambian professional footballer who plays as a striker for NAPSA Stars and the Zambia national team. Botswana National Football Team
The Botswana national football team was founded in 1970 to represent Botswana in association football and is governed by the Botswana Football Association (BFA). It qualified for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. History It took part in its first preliminary competition for the 1994 World Cup in the United States, where it faced Niger and Ivory Coast. It managed a 0–0 draw with the latter in Gaborone, and lost its other 3 matches, finishing last in its group. The next competition it entered was for the 2002 World Cup, where it faced Zambia in a 2-legged tie to decide which team would advance to the group stages. Mateus Alberto Contreiras Gonçalves (born 7 March 1983), commonly known as Manucho, is an Angolan former professional footballer who played as a striker. Manucho moved from Petro Atletico to Manchester United in January 2008. Before playing a game for United, however, he was loaned out to Greek side Panathinaikos for the remainder of the 2007–08 season, due to issues with obtaining a UK work permit.
