2007 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2007 CAA men's basketball tournament was an NCAA Division 1 College Basketball Conference tournament that was held at the Richmond Coliseum on March 2–5, 2007, to decide the Colonial Athletic Association conference champion. The winner advanced to the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship tournament, a 65-team tournament to decide a national champion of college basketball. Richmond Coliseum
Richmond Coliseum is a defunct arena located in downtown Richmond, Virginia, with a capacity of 13,500 that was most often used for various large concerts. The arena opened in 1971 and the region is looking to replace the aging facility with a larger one. The arena was quietly shuttered in February 2019 while new proposed replacements are in development. History Until John Paul Jones Arena opened in 2006, the Richmond Coliseum was the largest sports arena in Virginia. The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams men's basketball team played in the arena until the 7,500-seat Siegel Center opened on the VCU campus in 1999. Elvis Presley performed a concert at the coliseum on April 10, 1972, with footage being used in the film ''Elvis on Tour'' which documented Presley's spring tour of that year. The Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Colonial Athletic Association. The tournament has been held every year since at least 1980; for the 1979-80 to 1984-85 seasons the conference was known as the ECAC South. Jesse Pellot-Rosa (born July 4, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. College career He went to George Wythe High School and college at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) (2003-2007). Professional career After going undrafted at the 2007 NBA draft, Pellot-Rosa has been active with different teams in Argentina's Liga Nacional de Básquet, Puerto Rico's Baloncesto Superior Nacional, and other European leagues. In 2009, he won both the BSN Most Improved Player and the BSN Most Valuable Player Award. He was also named as part of the league All-Star Team. Frank Roderick Elegar (born December 3, 1986) is a U.S. Virgin Islands-Guyanese professional basketball player who last played for Napoli Basket of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Folarin Yaovi Campbell (born February 27, 1986) is a Nigerian-American basketball player who last played for Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin B.C., Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin of the Liga Leumit (basketball), Israeli National League. The 2006–07 Old Dominion Monarchs basketball team represented Old Dominion University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's basketball during the 2008–09 season.
