Johor Bahru
Johor Bahru (), colloquially referred to as JB, is the capital city of the state of Johor, Malaysia. It is located at the southern end of Peninsular Malaysia,along the north bank of the Straits of Johor, opposite of the city-state Singapore. Lu Lan
Lu Lan (born 2 May 1987) is a badminton player from China. Career In 2004, she won the Polish Open. In 2006, she won the Korea Open and finished the year in the 5th position in the BWF World Ranking. In 2007, she won the Denmark Super Series, and was a bronze medalist at the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, losing to the eventual champion Zhu Lin in the semifinals. In 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, she lost to Xie Xingfang 21–7, 10–21, 12–21 in the semi-finals and was then upset by Maria Kristin Yulianti from Indonesia 21–11, 13–21, 15–21 in the bronze medal match. Earlier in 2008 she had reached the final of the prestigious All-England Championships where she lost a very close match to Denmark's Tine Rasmussen. Kumiko Ogura
is a Japanese badminton player, affiliated with the Sanyo Electric team. Born in Kawagoe, Mie, Ogura started playing badminton at the age of eight. When she was in grade 1 in Shitennoji Senior High School, she entered the Japanese junior team. After graduating from high school in 2002, she joined the Sanyo Electric team. She partnered with Reiko Shiota, and they became the women's doubles runner-up at the 2005 Asian Championships. The two won their first world grand prix title at the 2005 Denmark Open. In 2006, she won the bronze medal at the Doha 2006 Asian Games, after being defeated by Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen in the semifinals. She also won the women's doubles bronze at the 2007 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kunchala Voravichitchaikul
Kunchala Voravichitchaikul ( th, กุลชลา วรวิจิตรชัยกุล; born 14 November 1984) is an internationally elite badminton player from Thailand. She competed at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Asian Games. Kunchala Voravichitchaikul is a doubles specialist who is paired with Duanganong Aroonkesorn in women's doubles and Songphon Anugritayawon in mixed doubles. She is a veteran of one World Championship, the 2010 Paris Worlds where she failed to make the quarter-finals in both events. (She also entered the 2009 Hyderabad Worlds with Anugritayawon, but withdrew before competition began.) Duanganong Aroonkesorn
Duanganong Aroonkesorn ( th, ดวงอนงค์ อรุณเกษร; born 6 February 1984) is an internationally elite badminton player from Thailand. She competed at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Asian Games. Aroonkesorn is a women's doubles specialist who is paired with Kunchala Voravichitchaikul. Her best results with Voravichitchaikul have come in 2010 including a Superseries tournament victory at the 2010 French Open. Zhao Yunlei
Zhao Yunlei (born 25 August 1986) is a mixed and women's doubles badminton player from China. She graduated with a BA from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She is the first and only badminton player to have ever won two gold medals in the same Olympic edition, winning in both the mixed and women's doubles categories in 2012. Zhao joins the ranks with nine other players with two Olympic gold medals, the highest number of gold medals won by any badminton player. Through her performance at the 2014 and 2015 BWF World Championships, she became the first player to win two consecutive gold medals in two consecutive BWF World Championships. Tsai Chia-Hsin
Tsai Chia-hsin (; born 25 July 1982) is a Taiwanese former badminton player. He competed at the 2006 and 2014 Asian Games. Tsai also competed (for the Republic of China as Chinese Taipei) in the 2004 Summer Olympics in mixed doubles with partner Cheng Wen-hsing and in 2016 Summer Olympics in men's doubles with partner Lee Sheng-mu. Muhammad Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari (born 5 February 1983) is a former male badminton player from Malaysia. Career 2007 Mohd Fairuzizuan played at the 2007 BWF World Championships in men's doubles with Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif. Mohd Zakry bin Abdul Latif (born 2 April 1983) is a former Malaysian badminton player. Career 2007 Mohd Zakry played at the 2007 BWF World Championships in men's doubles with Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari. They were seeded #7 and were defeated in the second round by Guo Zhendong and Xie Zhongbo, of China, 21-14, 21-13. Tan Boon Heong
Tan Boon Heong (, born 18 September 1987) is a former World No.1 Malaysian professional badminton player in the men's doubles event. Career 2004-2006 Tan was previously paired with Hoon Thien How, with whom he won the World Junior Championships in 2004 and a silver medal at the 2006 Asian Badminton Championships. 2006 Nearing the Doha Asian Games in 2006, Rexy Mainaky (the Malaysian doubles coach) decided to split them up and partner Tan Boon Heong with Koo Kien Keat instead. This move, nevertheless, proved to be spot-on as this pair went on to become the Asian Games champion, winning the gold medal in their maiden outing by defeating the then Chinese world champions, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, in the quarterfinals, Indonesia's Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan in the semifinals, and finally Luluk Hadiyanto and Alvent Yulianto, also from Indonesia, in the finals.
