2007 Arizona State Sun Devils Baseball Team
The 2007 Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team represented Arizona State University in the 2007 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Sun Devils played their home games at Packard Stadium, and played as part of the Pacific-10 Conference. The team was coached by Pat Murphy in his thirteenth season as head coach at Arizona State. The Sun Devils reached the College World Series, their twentieth appearance in Omaha, where they finished tied for fifth place after recording a win against and losing two eventual champion Oregon State and UC Irvine. On December 15, 2010, Arizona State vacated 44 wins, their Pac-12 title, and postseason appearance due to recruiting violations. Arizona State was banned from the 2011 postseason as well. Pat Murphy (baseball Coach)
Patrick Thomas Murphy (born November 28, 1958) is an American baseball coach and manager. He is currently the bench coach for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball. He previously served as the interim manager of the San Diego Padres and as the head coach for the college baseball teams representing Arizona State University and the University of Notre Dame. Playing career Murphy played baseball at Florida Atlantic University where he played catcher and infield and pitched. He was honored on FAU's 20th Anniversary Team as a pitcher and utility player and in 2008 was inducted into the school's Baseball Hall of Fame. Murphy signed a professional baseball contract with the San Francisco Giants in 1982 and played a total of four years in the minor leagues for the Giants, the San Diego Padres and two independent clubs before beginning his coaching career. Shriners College Classic
The Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic is an annual six-team college baseball tournament held in Houston and hosted by the Astros Foundation. The 15th annual tournament was held at Minute Maid Park in March 2015. It was initially called Astros College Classic from 2001 through 2002, the Minute Maid Park College Classic from 2003 through 2007, and the Houston College Classic from 2008 through 2015. In December 2015, the Astros Foundation and Shriners Hospitals for Children announced a multi-year naming rights agreement for the tournament, rebranding the event the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. As part of the agreement with Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Astros Foundation announced that the 2016 Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic would be nationally televised for the first time in history on MLB Network. Husky Ballpark is a college baseball park in the northwest United States, located on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Opened in 1998, it is the home field of the Washington Huskies of the Pac-12 conference. The playing field was renamed for donor Herb Chaffey in May 2009. Plainsman Park, officially ''Samford Stadium – Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park'', is the college baseball venue for the Auburn University Tigers. As of 2015, its seating capacity is 4,096. In 2003, ''Baseball America'' rated the facility the best college baseball venue in the country. The park's signature is its high left field fence, which is from home plate. The home team bullpen is located behind the left field fence, forcing media in the press box to use monitors to determine who is warming up. Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium was a college baseball park in the southwestern United States, located on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
