Qatar Stars League
The Qatar Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم قطر), or the QSL, also called QNB Stars League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level football league in Qatar football league system. Contested by 12 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatari Second Division (QSD). Seasons of the QSL usually run from September to April. The league's first season was played in 1963, although the first official season occurred in 1972. The league currently features 12 clubs, with one club being demoted to make room for one club being promoted. Younis Mahmoud
Younis Mahmoud Khalaf ( ar, يونس محمود خلف; born 3 February 1983) is an Iraqi former professional footballer who played as a forward for the Iraq national football team and is currently the second vice-president of the Iraq Football Association. One of the country's greatest ever players, Mahmoud captained the team for ten straight years and became an icon of Asian football. He also played for a number of clubs including teams in Iraq, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, winning three Golden Boots in Qatar and breaking numerous records. Mahmoud's first official international goal was an equaliser in the 89th minute of the final of the 2002 WAFF Championship, which Iraq then went on to win in extra-time. Husain Ali (born 31 December 1981) is a Bahraini retired football player known as Husain Pelé. He last played for Al-Shabab of Bahrain and was a former player for the Bahrain national team. Sabri Lamouchi
Sabri Lamouchi (born 9 November 1971) is a French football manager and former professional player who played as a midfielder. He was the manager of Qatar Stars League club Al-Duhail. Early life Lamouchi was born in Lyon, France, and is of Tunisian descent. Club career Lamouchi started his professional career with Alès and then moved to Auxerre for four years. He then went on to join Monaco, who he helped to the Ligue 1 title in 2000, before being snapped up by Parma of Italy. He later moved to Inter Milan. A'ala Ahmed Mohamed Hubail ( ar, علاء أحمد محمد حبيل; born 25 June 1982) is a Bahraini former professional footballer who played as a striker. Mirghani Al Zain (born 18 August 1978) is a Qatari retired football player of Sudanese descent and the current coach of Qatar Stars League club Al-Sailiya SC. Rodrigo Gral (born 21 February 1977) is a Brazilian former professional footballer. Márcio Passos de Albuquerque (born 6 September 1978), known as Emerson Sheik or just Emerson, is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career Early career Emerson Sheik was born in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil. As a promising teenager, he developed in São Paulo FC's youth system. He made his senior side debut in 1998.
