2006–07 Inter Milan Season
The 2006–07 season was Football Club Internazionale Milano's 98th in existence and 91st consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football. The team competed in Serie A, in the Coppa Italia, in the Supercoppa Italiana and in the UEFA Champions League. Season overview The relegation of Juventus to Serie B due to Calciopoli, and Milan and Fiorentina's penalisations, made Inter a clear favourite for the title: the side was empowered with the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimović, Patrick Vieira, Fabio Grosso and Maicon. In early September, the club suffered a tragedy: Inter's president Giacinto Facchetti died at the age of 64, due to a cancer. 2005–06 Inter Milan Season
The 2005–06 season was Football Club Internazionale Milano's 97th in existence and 90th consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football. Season overview The 2005–06 Serie A season opened with success in the Supercoppa Italiana, beating Juventus 1–0 in extra time with a goal scored by Verón. During the Champions League group stage, the side managed to have a line-up of 11 foreign players on the pitch: the only European was Luís Figo, playing the second time. Despite a good first half (also including a 3–2 win in derby, that lacked since 2002) Inter did not have a great second half, and knocked out in the Champions League by Villarreal. Júlio César Soares de Espíndola (born 3 September 1979), known as Júlio César (), is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Júlio César spent seven years at Italian club Inter Milan, with whom they won five ''Scudetti'', the 2009–10 UEFA Champions League, and the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup. He was awarded the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year title in both 2009 and 2010, and was nominated for the 2009 Ballon d'Or, where he was voted into 21st place. Francesco Toldo
Francesco Toldo (; born 2 December 1971) is an Italian retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is regarded by pundits as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. Maicon (footballer, Born 1981)
Maicon Douglas Sisenando (born 26 July 1981), known as Maicon (), is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a right-back. Maicon began his career in his native country with Cruzeiro, after initially playing for Grêmio and Criciúma at youth level. He played 125 times for Cruzeiro between 2000 and 2004, earning one national league title and several other domestic competitions, before moving to Europe when he signed for Ligue 1 side Monaco. After two years in Monaco, he signed for Inter Milan in 2006, where he became an established first team player, going on to win the UEFA Champions League in 2010, four Serie A titles, the FIFA Club World Cup and various domestic competitions. Fabio Grosso
Fabio Grosso (; born 28 November 1977) is an Italian former professional footballer and current manager of Frosinone Calcio. After playing for several smaller Italian clubs, such as Renato Curi, Chieti and Perugia, he made his breakthrough during his two seasons with Palermo, which earned him a move to defending Serie A champions Inter Milan in 2006. During his only season with Inter, he helped the club defend the Serie A title and win the Supercoppa Italiana. He later also won titles with Lyon in France and with Juventus. ''Calciopoli'' () was a sports scandal in Italy's top professional association football league Serie A and to a lesser extent Serie B.
