Svenska Cupen 2006 was the fifty-first season of the main Swedish football Cup. The competition started on 17 March 2006 and concluded on 11 November 2006 with the Final, held at Råsunda Stadium, Solna Municipality in Stockholms län. Helsingborgs IF won the final 2–0 against Gefle IF before an attendance of 3,379. First round The 34 matches were played between 17 March and 8 April 2006. Helsingborgs IF
Helsingborgs IF (full name Helsingborgs Idrottsförening), commonly referred to as HIF (), is a Swedish professional football club located in Helsingborg. They play in the Swedish first tier, Allsvenskan, following promotion in the 2021 Superettan season via play-offs. Formed in 1907, the club has won five national championship titles and five national cup titles. Helsingborgs IF have also won Allsvenskan on two occasions when the title of Swedish champions was not decided by the outcome of that league. Helsingborg was a founder member of Allsvenskan, and between 1924 and 1968 they spent all but two seasons in the top division, and won the league five times. At the end of the 1968 season, HIF was relegated, and while most people initially expected a quick return, they went on to spend the next 24 seasons in the lower leagues before finally getting promoted back to the top flight in 1992. Lyckeby GoIF was a Swedish football club located in Lyckeby in Karlskrona Municipality, Blekinge County. The club merged with Karlskrona AIF in 2012 to form FK Karlskrona. Background Lyckeby GoIF (Gymnastik- och Idrottsförening) was a sports club which was founded on 5 February 1925. There were around 40 young sports enthusiasts who wanted a local club that would involve young people in sports such as tennis, swimming, winter sports, wrestling and football. Gantofta IF is a Swedish football club located in Gantofta. Background Gantofta Idrottsförening were formed in 1942 but there most successful period has been over the last decade when they progressed from Division 6 in 2000 to Division 2 in 2006 and then spent 2 further seasons in Division 3. Lundby IF is a football club formed in 1919 located in Hisingen, Göteborg, Sweden. The club currently plays in Division 6. History 1940s In 1939–1940, during the time the team played in Division 3. After winning the league, the team was promoted to Division 2. The following year the club won the Division 2 Västra. After their win, the team place 8th for 1942–1943 season. FC Trollhättan is a Swedish football club located in Trollhättan currently playing in Division 1. Background The club was founded in 2001, when the old rivals Trollhättans IF and Trollhättans FK decided to merge. In their first league match ever, against Ljungskile SK away at Skarsjövallen on April 22, 2002, in Division II (Sweden's third league at that time) they won 1–0 and the historic goal scorer was Michel Berndtsson when he scored the game winner in the 79th minute. Husqvarna FF
Husqvarna FF is a football club in Huskvarna, Sweden. The team is sponsored by the Husqvarna AB. History Husqvarna FF was founded on 3 February 1987 following the merger of the men's association football sections of Husqvarna IF and Huskvarna Södra IS. In its early years the new club played in Divisions 2 and 3. The club's fortunes improved in 1998 when the club finished with nine points ahead of Myresjö IF to win Division 2 Östra Götaland and gain promotion to Division 1 Södra, the second tier of Swedish football. However their stay in Division 1 was short-lived and they were relegated at the end of the 1999 season. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same.
