Saanich Commonwealth Place
Saanich Commonwealth Place is a recreation center located west of the Patricia Bay Highway and north of Royal Oak Drive in Saanich, British Columbia in Canada. It was originally constructed in 1993 for the August 1994 Commonwealth Games, and is currently a prominent facility in the community. In 2002 the original weightroom was completely renovated and it re-opened for operation in 2004. Among the center's other features are a full-size gymnasium (7000 square feet), a 50-meter competition pool, 4.5 meter deep dive tank with 1-, 3-, 5-, 7.5-, and 10-meter boards, and the Bruce Hutchison Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library. Gabriel Semain Vasconcellos Mangabeira (born 31 January 1982) is a Brazilian competition swimmer who qualified for the men's 100-metre butterfly at both the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics. Joshua Krogh (born 3 April 1982) is an Australian former freestyle and butterfly swimmer. A swimmer from the Sunshine Coast, Krogh was the anchor in the freestyle relay team which took silver at the 2004 FINA Short Course World Championships in Indianapolis. Benjamin Marshall Wildman-Tobriner (born September 21, 1984) is an American competition swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, and former world record-holder. Early life Wildman-Tobriner was born in San Francisco to Michael Tobriner and Stephanie Wildman, and is Jewish. He grew up in San Francisco with his parents and older sister, Rebecca. Daniel Lawrence Madwed (born March 15, 1989) is an American swimmer. Career Madwed was born in Stamford, Connecticut. He swam in the 2005 Maccabiah Games in Jerusalem, Israel. He won a gold medal and set a new Maccabiah Games record in the men's 200-meter butterfly. He competed at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria, British Columbia, and was the youngest American male swimmer at the event. Andrew George Lauterstein (born 22 May 1987) is an Australian swimmer and a three-time Olympic medalist. Personal Lauterstein grew up in Black Rock, Victoria and attended Brighton Grammar School. He has an elder brother and a younger sister. In his youth, Lauterstein was in the Victorian state football team and represented Australia at baseball in youth teams. He quit both sports at the age of 16 to concentrate on swimming.
