The 2006 Mosconi Cup, the 13th edition of the annual nine-ball pool competition between teams representing Europe and the United States, took place 7–10 December 2006 at the Rotterdam Cruise Terminal in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Rotterdam Cruise Terminal
The Rotterdam Cruise Terminal is a building on the Wilhelmina Pier, Rotterdam. The Cruise Terminal served as the arrival and departure point of Holland America Line and is considered part of the city’s social and industrial heritage. Rodney Morris
Rodney Morris (born 25 November 1970 in Anaheim, California, USA) is a professional pool player of Chamorro - Hawaiian descent. Nicknamed "Rocket" he currently resides in Acworth, Georgia. Rodney married his wife Rheyannon in July 2020. Career In 1996, Morris won his first major tournament by defeating Efren Reyes in the finals of the US Open Nine-ball Championship. In 2001, after 5 years of not playing in a tournament Morris came back to win the Sands Regency 9-Ball Open. In 2003, he was on top form and dominated the World Pool League tournament, besting Thorsten Hohmann the reigning World Champion. He has represented Team USA in the Mosconi Cup on eight occasions. He was the Mosconi Cup MVP in 2004. David Alcaide
David Alcaide Bermúdez (born 14 December 1978) is a Spanish pool player. He is a two-time winner of the World Pool Masters, winning the 2017 event, defeating Jayson Shaw 8–7 in the final, and again in 2019 defeating Alexander Kazakis 9–8. Alcaide is a three-time world championship semi-finalist having reached the stage at the WPA World 10-ball Championship, in 2009 and 2015, and the WPA World Eight-ball Championship in 2011. Alcaide has also represented Europe at the Mosconi Cup three times in 2006, 2017 and 2021. At the 2006 event, he was the first Spanish player to compete in the competition. In addition to pool, Alcaide also plays snooker, having competed at the 2019 Gibraltar Open professional snooker event. Nick Van Den Berg
Nick van den Berg (born 24 May 1980) is a Dutch professional pool player. He was the runner up at the 2005 WPA World Eight-ball Championship, where he lost to Wu Chia-ching 11–5 in the final. He is a multiple time winner of events on the Euro Tour, winning 10 tournaments between 2002 and 2017, the fourth highest in the history of the tour. A six-time winner of the European Pool Championships, Van den Berg has represented Europe at the Mosconi Cup on eight occasions, winning the event on six occasions as well as tying the event in 2006. Thomas Engert
Thomas Engert is a German professional pool player. Engert won the 2004 International Challenge of Champions beating fellow German Thorsten Hohmann in the finals. When he returned to the tournament one year later, Engert was close to winning it for the second consecutive time but Chao Fong-pang, who was then the two-time winner of the event, defeated him in the finals. Engert has won the German Pool Championships more than any other player, on 20 occasions. In 2004, Engert won the World Pool Masters over another fellow German, Oliver Ortmann. Imran Majid (Urdu: امران مجید) (born 4 October 1972 in London) is an English professional pool player. Early life and career Majid was born in London to parents who emigrated from Lahore, Punjab. Ralf Souquet ( ; born 29 November 1968) is a German professional pool player. His nickname is "The Kaiser". Since 1988, he has won more than 200 tournament titles, including 23 Euro Tour titles, 20 European Pool Championship and 12 German Pool Championship. Souquet is a two-time world champion, winning the 2008 WPA World Eight-ball Championship and 1996 WPA World Nine-ball Championship. John Schmidt (pool Player)
John Schmidt (born April 12, 1973) is an American pool player, born in Keokuk, Iowa. Specialising in straight pool, Schmidt held the record for the highest ever made (626), until Jayson Shaw broke that record with a high run of 714 in January 2022. Schmidt won the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships in 2006 defeating Rodolfo Luat in the final. He was also part of the American team at two Mosconi Cups in 2006 and 2014.
