The 2006 BMW Championship was the 52nd edition of the BMW Championship, an annual professional golf tournament on the European Tour. 2006 European Tour
The 2006 European Tour was the 35th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with five events in late 2005 and consisted of 47 official money events, equalling the record set the previous year. This included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, 12 in Asia, five in the United States, two in South Africa and one in Australia. Total prize money exceeded €117 million, including nearly €40 million in the major championships and WGC events. The Order of Merit race came down to the last few shots of the final tournament, and was won by Pádraig Harrington for the first time. He was the first Irishman to top the Order of Merit since the official beginning of the tour. Costantino Rocca
Costantino Rocca (born 4 December 1956) is an Italian golfer. He was long known as the most successful male golfer that Italy has produced, until the 2018 success of Francesco Molinari, who credited Rocca as an inspiration to him following his Open victory. After a long career on the European Tour, Constantino is now playing on the European Seniors Tour. He has five European Tour wins and is best known for his second-place finish in the 1995 Open Championship, and his hole in one in 1995 Ryder Cup. Andrew Oldcorn
Andrew Oldcorn (born 31 March 1960) is a Scottish professional golfer. Oldcorn was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England. He was raised in Edinburgh, and represents Scotland. He represented England as an amateur and won the English Amateur in 1982, turning professional after playing for Great Britain & Ireland in the 1983 Walker Cup. Oldcorn was medalist at the European Tour final Qualifying School in 1983. He had a steady start to his career on tour before being struck down with ME (also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in the early 1990s. He returned to form in 1993, to claim his first tour victory in the Turespana Masters Open de Andalucia. Away from the tour he also won the Sunderland of Scotland Masters. Anders Rosenberg Hansen (born 16 September 1970) is a semi-retired Danish professional golfer. Career Hansen was born in Sønderborg, Denmark. He turned professional in 1995. It took him a few years to establish himself on the European Tour, with his first top 116 Order of Merit finish (the level a player requires to automatically regain his card) coming in 1999. His maiden European Tour victory was the 2002 Volvo PGA Championship and he finished in the top 60 on the Order of Merit every year from 2000 to 2012, with a best of seventh in 2011. He has featured in the top 25 of the Official World Golf Ranking and has been the highest ranked Danish golfer. Scott Drummond
Scott Drummond (born 29 May 1974) is a Scottish professional golfer. Drummond was born in Shrewsbury in England. He played amateur golf for England but decided to represent Scotland, the country of his father, when he turned professional in 1996. In the early years of his career Drummond struggled to win a regular place on the main European Tour, and spent a good deal of his time on the second tier Challenge Tour. In 2004 he claimed a surprise win in the prestigious Volvo PGA Championship, which catapulted him 340 places, from 435th to 95th in the world rankings, and gave him a five-year exemption on the European Tour. He ended the season in 23rd place on the Order of Merit, and was selected as the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year.
