2005 Nordea Nordic Light Open
The 2005 Nordea Nordic Light Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 4th edition of the Nordic Light Open, and was part of the Tier IV Series of the 2005 WTA Tour. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, from 8 through 14 August 2005. Fifth-seeded Katarina Srebotnik won the singles title and earned $22,000 first-prize money. Finals Singles * Katarina Srebotnik defeated Anastasia Myskina, 7–5, 6–2 It was the 2nd title for Srebotnik in the season and the 4th title of her singles career. Doubles * Émilie Loit / Katarina Srebotnik defeated Eva Birnerová / Mara Santangelo, 6–4, 6–3 It was the 11th title for Loit and the 10th title for Srebotnik in their respective doubles careers. WTA Tier IV Tournaments
The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. Some of the tournaments became Tier V events between 1990 and 1992, and later from 2001 to 2005, before being integrated back into Tier IV. The Nordic Light Open (sponsored by Nordea) was a women's tennis tournament held in Stockholm, Sweden (in 2002 and 2003 the tournament was played in Espoo, Finland on clay courts). Mara Santangelo (born 28 June 1981) is a retired tennis player from Italy and Grand Slam champion in double. Eva Birnerová (born 14 August 1984) is a Czech former tennis player. In her career, she won three doubles titles on the WTA Tour, as well as eight singles and 11 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit.
