The 2005 Mountain West Conference football season was the 7th since eight former members of the Western Athletic Conference banded together to form the MW. Texas Christian University was added as the conference's 9th member in 2005, and won the conference championship in their first season since moving over from Conference USA. Utah Utes Football
The Utah Utes football program is a Power 5 Conference college football team that competes in the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12) of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of NCAA Division I and represents the University of Utah. The Utah college football program began in 1892 and has played home games at the current site of Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City since 1927. SBC Park

2005 California Golden Bears Football Team
The 2005 California Golden Bears football team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. They played their home games at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, California and were coached by Jeff Tedford. At the beginning of the season quarterback Nate Longshore was chosen to succeed Aaron Rodgers as the starting quarterback. However he was injured during the first game of the season and replaced by Joe Ayoob for the next nine games. The Bears got off to their best start, at 5–0, since Steve Mariucci coached them in 1996. But then stumbled and lost four of their next five games. Third string quarterback Steve Levy, replaced Ayoob, and was named as the starter for the Big Game. Sam Boyd Stadium
Sam Boyd Stadium (formerly the Las Vegas Silver Bowl) is a football stadium in the western United States, located in Whitney, Nevada, an unincorporated community in the Las Vegas Valley. It honors Sam Boyd (1910–1993), a major figure in the hotel and casino industry in Las Vegas. The 2005 Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl was the 14th edition of the annual college football bowl game. It featured the California Golden Bears and the BYU Cougars. Game summary Cal scored first on a 3-yard touchdown run by Marshawn Lynch to take a 7–0 lead with 11:56 left in the 1st quarter. He would finish the game with 194 yards rushing on 24 carries.
