2005 Men's World Team Squash Championships
The 2005 Men's World Team Squash Championships is the men's edition of the 2005 World Team Squash Championships organized by the World Squash Federation, which serves as the world team championship for squash players. The event were held in Islamabad, Pakistan and took place from December 8 to December 14, 2005. The tournament was organized by the World Squash Federation and the Pakistan Squash Federation. The England team won his third World Team Championships beating the Egyptian team in the final. Participating teams A total of 22 teams competed from all the five confederations: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. For Iran, it was their first participation at a world team championship. Rowan Quentin Smith (8 August 1943 – 23 May 2018) was a Dean of St. George's Cathedral, Cape Town. Early life and education Rowan Smith was born on 8 August 1943, the son of Frank and Dorothea Smith. Nicholas Matthew (born 25 July 1980 in Sheffield) is a former English professional squash player who has won the two most prestigious tournaments in the professional game, the British Open and the World Open, three times each. Peter Nicol (born 5 April 1973) is a former professional squash player from Scotland, who represented first Scotland and then England in international squash. In 1998, while still competing for Scotland, he became the first player from the UK to hold the World No. 1 ranking. Lee Beachill (born 28 November 1977 in Huddersfield, United Kingdom) is a former World No. 1 squash player from England. Beachill reached the World No. 1 ranking in October 2004. He also finished runner-up at the World Open that year. Beachill was part of the English team which won the World Team Squash Championships in 2005. He has also won gold medals for England in the men's doubles at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and 2006, partnering Peter Nicol on both occasions. Beachill has won the British National Squash Championships three times – in 2001, 2002 and 2005. Beachill announced his retirement from the game in February 2009 after undergoing hernia surgery.
