Television in France was introduced in 1931, Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, when the first experimental broadcasts began. Colour television was introduced in October 1967 on France 2, La Deuxième Chaîne. Digital terrestrial television The digital terrestrial television platform was launched on 31 March 2005 after a short testing period. Like Freeview (UK), Freeview in the UK, it provides many new channels, as well as the current terrestrial television stations. Like the rest of Europe, France uses the DVB-T transmission technology. 5, Rue Sésame
''5, Rue Sésame'' is a French language children's television series based on the popular U.S. children's show ''Sesame Street'', aired by France 5. This series is the second Sesame Workshop co-production for France, the first being ''1, rue Sésame''. Seventy-five 26-minute-long episodes were created for the two seasons, directed by François Basset and Jul Mallard. The series is produced for France 5 by Expand-Drama with Sesame Workshop. The executive producer of the series is Georges Campana. The show debuted airing daily, Sunday to Friday at 6:30 am, and Saturdays at 7:00 am and 12:30 pm. Jacqueline Joubert
Jacqueline Joubert (29 March 1921 – 8 January 2005), born Jacqueline Annette Édith Pierre, was a French television continuity announcer, producer and director. Alongside Arlette Accart, Joubert was one of the first two in-vision continuity announcers (or ''speakerines'') when television commenced in France after the Second World War. Life She was married to the journalist Georges de Caunes (1953–60), was the mother of Canal+ TV star Antoine de Caunes, and the grandmother of actress Emma de Caunes. She had also been married to Philippe Lagier. Alongside continuity duties, she presented the 1959 and 1961 Eurovision Song Contests from Cannes. She began to produce and direct entertainment shows in 1966 before switching to producing children's programming for Antenne 2 between 1970 and 1980 - in the process, devising the popular magazine show ''Récré A2'' and launching the television career of singer and actress Dorothée. ''Plus belle la vie'' (More beautiful life) is a French television soap opera based on an idea by Hubert Besson and characters created by Georges Desmouceaux, Bénédicte Achard, Magaly Richard-Serrano and Olivier Szulzynger. On air since 30 August 2004, it is currently shown on France 3 on Monday to Friday evenings at 8:15 p.m. The show began with 17 main actors and gained more later. 30 millions d'amis (English: "30 million friends") is a French television program, a French monthly magazine with its posters, and a French foundation: the Fondation 30 Millions d'Amis. All three focus on pets, especially cats, dogs, horses, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, mice, canaries, parakeets, parrots, terrarium reptiles, goldfish, aquarium fish, and other exotic pets, but also wild animals like for example, bonobos and cheetahs. ''Star Academy'' is a French reality television. It was produced by the Dutch company Endemol. It consists of a contest of young singers. It spawned an equally successful show in Canada called '' Star Académie''. It was broadcast on TF1 (2001–2008 and 2022) and NRJ 12 (2012). Magalie Vaé is the stage name of Magalie Bonneau, a French singer born on 6 January 1987 in Gonesse (Val-d'Oise). She was the winner of the fifth series of the French Star Academy TV talent show. Biography Vaé grew up in Le Thillay, in Val-d'Oise. In September 2005, she was selected to participate to Star Academy France. Four months later she ended up winning one million euros and a record deal to release her debut studio album. On 6 February 2006, Magalie went to Canada to record her album, produced by Rick Allison.
