2005 Holden Performance Driving Centre V8 Supercar Series
The 2005 Holden Performance Driving Centre V8 Supercar Series was an Australian touring car series held for V8 Supercars. It was the sixth series held for second tier V8 Supercars competitors. The season began on 18 March 2005 at Wakefield Park and finished on 27 November at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The season consisted of seven rounds held across four different states. The series was expanded for 2005, incorporating the previously stand-alone support race at Bathurst 1000 into a series round and adding a finale on the support program of the Bigpond Grand Finale. Dean Canto, driving for Dick Johnson Racing's two car team, dominated the expanded series, winning ten races, and five of the seven rounds, which made Canto the first multiple winner of the series and directly led to a full-time return to V8 Supercar Championship Series with Garry Rogers Motorsport. V8 Supercar Development Series
The Dunlop Super2 Series (formerly known as Dunlop Series, Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series, HPDC V8 Supercars Series, Konica Minolta V8 Supercars Series and Konica V8 Supercars/Lites Series) is an Australian touring car racing competition, specifically the second tier series for Supercars Championship, Supercars competitors. Phillip Scifleet, born 4 May 1977, is an Australian race driver. Starting in Karts in 1993 winning the Australian Formula A Series in 1994 before moving up into the cars for the Australian Suzuki GTi Cup in 1995. Then he moved into Formula Ford in 1996, winning the New South Wales Championship. In 1997 he competed in the Australian Formula Ford Championship finishing tenth. From there he entered the British Formula Three Championship in Class B, but ran out of funds halfway through the season. He did so well at the start of the season that he could not be caught in points and won the championship. Mark "Didley" Porter (2 October 1974 – 8 October 2006) was a New Zealand racing driver who competed in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar touring car racing series in Australia. His V8 Supercar series debut was in a Ford Falcon at Wakefield Park in 2002, and he debuted in the Bathurst 1000 the same year. Racing death In the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, Porter drove a Hyundai/Hydraulink sponsored Holden VZ Commodore for the M-Sport team. Porter was third in the championship point standings after 14 races of the 18 race season, when the competition moved to the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales for a weekend of races in the Fujitsu and other series. Steven Ellery Racing was an Australia motorsport team which contested several series in its home country, including as the Supercheap Auto Racing V8 Supercar team. The team ceased operations at the end of 2005, with the lead driver Steven Ellery moving to Triple Eight Race Engineering for the 2005 season. MW Motorsport (formerly known as Matthew White Racing) is a motor-racing team that is competing in the Dunlop Super2 Series.
