2005 Central Hockey League All-Star Game
{{Use mdy dates, date=August 2023 The 2005 CHL All-Star Game (for sponsorship reasons officially named the 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game) was played on January 12, 2005 in Laredo, Texas. The format featured the Northern Conference All-Stars vs. the Southern Conference All-Stars, with each Central Hockey League team having a minimum of one representative to appear on the All-Star roster. The starting line-ups were selected through balloting among the CHL coaches, broadcasting and/or public relations staff, and designated media members in each CHL market. The remaining players were chosen by the All-Star coaches in concurrence with the CHL's hockey operations department. Laredo, Texas
Laredo ( ; ) is a city in and the county seat of Webb County, Texas, United States, on the north bank of the Rio Grande in South Texas, across from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Laredo has the distinction of flying seven flags (the flag of the former Republic of the Rio Grande, which is now the flag of the city, in addition to the Six Flags of Texas). San Angelo Saints
The San Angelo Saints are a defunct professional ice hockey team that was based in San Angelo, Texas. Originally named the San Angelo Outlaws before being renamed "Saints" prior to the 2002–03 CHL season, 2002–03 season, the team played three seasons in the Central Hockey League, from 2002 to 2005. The team was coached by Brent Scott in the franchise's first two seasons in the CHL when it missed making the playoffs, and was coached by Ray Edwards (ice hockey), Ray Edwards the following two seasons, losing in the first round of the playoffs each time. Scott Reid (born November 25, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender and husband of two-time gold medal Olympic ice hockey defender Meaghan Mikkelson. Brent Cullaton
Brent Cullaton (born November 12, 1974) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player. He is also a three-time Central Hockey League all-star. During his final professional seasons in the CHL, Cullaton also served as the General Manager and Head Coach for the Boulder Junior Bison of the Western States Hockey League until 2012. With his most successful years in the Central Hockey League with the Rocky Mountain Rage, Cullaton remained in Colorado as his primary residence. Cullaton joined the newly established Denver Cutthroats of the CHL as the Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations. With the intention to skate in the Denver Cutthroats celebrity charity hockey game at the Denver Coliseum, Cullaton came out of retirement and signed a 5-game playing contract with the short-handed Cutthroats on February 5, 2013. Amarillo Gorillas
The Amarillo Gorillas were a minor league hockey team based in Amarillo, Texas. The team was most recently affiliated with the now defunct Central Hockey League (CHL) from 2001–10. The Gorillas began play in 1996 as the Amarillo Rattlers in the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) until the WPHL was bought by the CHL in 2001. They would continue to use the Rattlers name until an ownership change in 2002, composed of local businessmen Bill Tolliver, Gary Thach, Joe Gammesfelter, Daryl Felsberg, Kevin Moon, Jay Hedrick, and Shaughn Ogrady. Derek Hahn (born December 27, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. Playing career After playing collegiate hockey with the R.I.T. Tigers, Hahn made his professional debut with the Elmira Jackals in the United Hockey League. After five seasons in the Central Hockey League as a cult player with the Amarillo Gorillas, Hahn embarked on a European career, signing initially in the AL-Bank Ligaen with the Rødovre Mighty Bulls. The Lubbock Cotton Kings were a professional ice hockey team formerly based in Lubbock, Texas as members of the Western Professional Hockey League and the Central Hockey League. The team played home games at City Bank Coliseum. History The Lubbock Cotton Kings played their first game in Lubbock Municipal Coliseum (later City Bank Coliseum) in October 1999.
