2004–05 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup
The 2004–05 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season for short track speed skating. The season began on 22 October 2004 and ended on 12 February 2005. The World Cup was organised by the International Skating Union who also ran world cups and championships in speed skating and figure skating. The World Cup consisted of six tournaments in this season. Jean-François Monette
Jean-François Monette (born October 28, 1978) is a Canadian retired short track speed skater and five-time World Championships medallist. Career Jean-François Monette started speed skating at the age of 9. The most notable achievement at the junior age is the gold medal of the 1996 World Championships. During his career he did not manage to compete at the Winter Olympics. He fractured a vertebrae 3 weeks prior to the selection for the 1998 Olympics. He was a reserve athlete in the 2002 Olympic team. Monette's first World Cup podium was third place in the relay competition in Gothenburg during the 1999-2000 season. His first World Cup relay victory happened at the World Cup stage in Sofia during the 2001-02 season. His senior career went up in 2002. During the 2002-03 World Cup season, he achieved seven personal podiums as well as four victories and two podiums in relay competitions. François-Louis Tremblay
François-Louis Tremblay (born November 13, 1980) is a Canadian retired short track speed skater and five-time Olympic medallist who competed at the 2002, 2006, and 2010 Winter Olympics. François-Louis Tremblay is one of only three Canadian men to win 5 medals at the Winter Olympic games, the other men being Marc Gagnon. At the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, and Charles Hamelin. Tremblay was a member of Canada's gold medal-winning 5,000-meter relay team. In Turin, Italy, at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, he won two silver medals. He won an individual medal by finishing second in the men's 500-meter race and also took part in the men's 5,000-meter relay that finished second behind the South Korean team. Steve Robillard (born June 23, 1984) is a Canadian retired short track speed skater and World Champion in men's relay. Career Robillard Started speed skating at the age of 3. He was top ranked junior in Canada in 2002 after he won three medals at the 2002 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships. Robillard debuted in senior competitions during the 1999-2000 season when he first entered World Cup events. During his career, Robillard set world records, including the record of 2.15:383 at 1500 m he set on 12 October 2001 in Calgary. His senior career went up in 2004. Charles Hamelin
Charles Hamelin (born April 14, 1984) is a Canadian retired short track speed skater. In a competitive career that spanned nearly twenty years on the international circuit, Hamelin participated in five Winter Olympic Games ( 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022) and won six Olympic medals, including a national-best four gold medals. Competing in all distances, he won thirty-eight medals at the World Championships, including fourteen gold medals, and also led Canada to five world relay titles. Hamelin was also the 2014 Overall World Cup season winner and the 2018 Overall World Champion, giving him all the achievements available in the sport.
