On the same day, WIN TEN goes on air in the Mount Gambier & Riverland regions of South Australia as a supplementary broadcaster to existing solus broadcaster WIN Television. *February – Nine launches a new afternoon news service to complete against Seven's 4:30 pm news, which was launched the previous year to provide viewers with up-to-date information on the War on Iraq. *1 February – ''Deal or No Deal'' debuts its 5.30pm timeslot on Seven which would last until 2015. Bert's Family Feud
''Bert's Family Feud'' was an Australian game show remake based on the American show of the same name. The series was produced by Grundy Television in conjunction with FremantleMedia. It was broadcast on the Nine Network and hosted by Bert Newton. The title refers to host Bert Newton as the show intended to feature celebrities and their families as contestants. David Stratton
David James Stratton (born 10 September 1939) is an English-Australian award-winning film critic, as both a journalist and interviewer, film historian and lecturer and television personality and producer. Life and career Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, in 1939, Stratton was sent to Hampshire to see out the war years with his grandmother, an avid filmgoer, where he was taken to the local cinemas regularly and saw a diverse range of movies. He attended Chafyn Grove School from 1948 to 1953 as a boarder. He saw his first foreign film at Bath in 1955—Italian romantic comedy ''Bread, Love and Dreams''. That was soon followed by Akira Kurosawa's Japanese adventure drama classic ''Seven Samurai'' tracked down in Birmingham. At the age of 19, he founded the Melksham and District Film Society. Margaret Pomeranz
Margaret Pomeranz (born 14 July 1944) is an Australian film critic, writer, producer and television personality. Early life Pomeranz was born Margeret Anne Jones-Owen on 14 July 1944 in Waverley, a suburb of Sydney. She was educated at the Presbyterian Ladies' College, Sydney in Croydon, the then newly-opened Macquarie University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and social psychology, and the Playwright's Studio at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). In her early twenties, she left Sydney to escape the "banality" and travelled around Europe, before returning to Australia and settling in Sydney. ''Burgo's Catch Phrase'' was an Australian game show that ran between 1997 and 2004, produced by Southern Star Group (and later by the joint-venture Endemol Southern Star) for the Nine Network. The show was based on the British and American versions of the programme, and was originally known simply as ''Catch Phrase'' until 1999 where the show was renamed as ''Burgo's Catch Phrase'' in honour of its host, John Burgess. The show was cancelled in 2004 after a revamp of the show and a hiatus in 2001. Contestants would have to identify the familiar phrase represented by a piece of animation, with the show's mascot — a character called "Jimmy" — often appearing.
