2003 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships
The 2003 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships took place between March 19 and 21, 2003 in Warsaw, Poland. The World Championships are organised by the ISU which also run world cups and championships in speed skating and figure skating. Results Men * First place is awarded 34 points, second is awarded 21 points, third is awarded 13 points, fourth is awarded 8 points, fifth is awarded 5 points, sixth is awarded 3 points, seventh is awarded 2 points, and eighth is awarded 1 point in the finals of each individual race to determine the overall world champion. The relays do not count for the overall classification. Alanna Kraus (born June 30, 1977 in Abbotsford, British Columbia) is a Canadian short track speed skater. She won the bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in short-track speed skating for the women's 3000 m relay. She competed in three individual events at the 2002 Games. Wang Meng (speed Skater)
Wang Meng (; born April 10, 1985 in Qitaihe, Heilongjiang) is a Chinese short track speed skater. She is a four-time Olympic Champion and 2008 and 2009 Overall World Champion. She is the most decorated Chinese Winter Olympic athlete ever with four Olympic gold medals, a silver and a bronze. Wang won gold in the 500 m event, silver in the 1000 m and bronze in the 1500 m event at the 2006 Winter Olympics. She won 500 m and 1000 m gold medals at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and added a third gold medal in the 3000 m relay with the China team. Wang has also won 18 gold medals at the World Championships. Wang Chunlu
Wang Chunlu (, born 27 September 1978 in Changchun, China) is a Chinese short track speed skater. She won medals in the 500 m and 3000 m relay at the 2002 Winter Olympics. She had also already won a relay silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics, at the age of 19. Her strongest event by far was always the 500 metres, where she won 3 world titles- 1995, 1998, and 2001. In addition to her Olympic bronze in 2002, she was also leading the final and on her way to a likely gold medal in 1998 before a dangerous and poorly executed passing attempt by Isabelle Charest unfortunately led to Charest and Wang both falling. Cho Ha-Ri (Hangul: 조해리, Hanja: 趙海利, ; born 29 July 1986) is a short track speed skater who competes for South Korea. She is the 2011 Overall World Champion. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Cho finished 4th in the women's 1000 metres and 5th in the 1500 metres. Later that same season, she placed third in the standings for the overall title at the 2010 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, capturing silver in the 1000 m and 3000 m races, and third in the 1500 m. Evgenia Radanova ( bg, Евгения Раданова; born 4 November 1977) is a Bulgarian female short track speed skater and racing cyclist who has participated in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Amélie Goulet-Nadon (born January 24, 1983, in Laval, Quebec) is a Canadian short track speed skater who competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics. In 2002, she was a member of the Canadian relay team which won the bronze medal in the 3000 metre relay competition. Goulet-Nadon was considered one of Canada's rising superstars in short track until a problem arose with her motor problem, forcing her to abandon the 2006 Turin Olympics and eventually retire early at the age of 23.
