The Copa del Rey 2002-03 was the 66th edition of the Spanish basketball Cup. It was organized by the ACB and was held in Valencia at the Pabellón Municipal Fuente de San Luis between 20 and 23 February 2003. The winning team was FC Barcelona after defeating defending champions Tau Cerámica after an overtime. The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto (English: '' King's Cup of Basketball'') is an annual cup competition for Spanish basketball teams organized by Spain's top professional league, the Liga ACB. History Originally known as the ''Copa de España de Baloncesto'', was first played in 1933 and contested in its first editions only by teams from the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona. It was the first nationwide basketball competition played in Spain. During the Francoism, it was referred to as the ''Copa del Generalísimo de Baloncesto'', before becoming the ''Copa del Rey de Baloncesto'' in 1977. Club Joventut Badalona, S.A.D. () is a Spanish professional basketball club based in Badalona, Catalonia, Spain, playing in the Liga ACB and the EuroCup. Dejan Bodiroga
Dejan Bodiroga ( sr-Cyrl, Дејан Бодирога; born 2 March 1973) is a Serbian basketball executive and former professional player who is the Chairman of the Euroleague Basketball. During his playing career, he mainly played at the small forward position, but he could also play point forward, and both guard positions. A EuroLeague icon of the early part of the 2000s, Bodiroga was named to the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors, EuroLeague 2000–10 All-Decade Team and was voted by fans the EuroLeague's 2000–2010 Player of the Decade. Roberto Dueñas
Roberto Dueñas Hernandez (born 1 November 1975) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player. At a height of 7 ft 3 inches tall, he played at the center position. Professional career Dueñas was drafted with the last overall pick (#57), of the 1997 NBA draft, by the Chicago Bulls, but he never played in the NBA. Dueñas played professionally with FC Barcelona from 1996–2005, during which time he won a EuroLeague championship in the 2002–03 season. Performance Index Rating (PIR) is a basketball mathematical statistical formula that is used by the Euroleague Basketball Company's first and second tier competitions, the EuroLeague and the EuroCup, as well as various European national domestic and regional leagues. It is a part of the Tendex basketball rating system. It is also variously referred to as Performance Index Ranking, Rating, Ranking, Evaluation, Valuation, and Efficiency. It is similar to, but not exactly the same as, the NBA's Efficiency (EFF) stat. History Performance Index Rating was created in 1991, by the Spanish ACB League, which started using it to determine the league's MVP of the Week and regular season MVP awards. Luis Alberto Scola Balvoa (born April 30, 1980) is an Argentine former professional basketball player and current executive who currently serves as the chief executive officer for the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) team Pallacanestro Varese. A three-time All-EuroLeague selection with Tau Ceramica, he signed with the Houston Rockets in 2007, and was voted to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Later on, he played for the Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets. Elmer James Bennett (born February 13, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. At a height of 6'0" (1.83 m), he played at the point guard position. High school Bennett played competitively for Bellaire High School, in Bellaire, Texas. The Asociación de Clubes Españoles de Baloncesto (Spanish Basketball Clubs Association), more commonly known as the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), is a national sports association responsible for administering the main professional basketball league in Spain - the Liga Endesa. The organisation was founded in 1982. Competition The 18 member clubs of the ACB are grouped into the Liga Endesa. In any given season a club plays each of the others in the same division twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents.
