2001 Players Championship
The 2001 Players Championship was a golf tournament in Florida on the PGA Tour, held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville. It was the 28th Players Championship. Tiger Woods won the first of his two Players Championships, one stroke ahead of runner-up Vijay Singh. Because of bad weather, the tournament was completed on Monday, March 26. In the final pairing with 54-hole leader Jerry Kelly, Woods played the final nine holes on Monday. He had also won the previous week, at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Invitational Woods had won the previous three majors in 2000; he won the Masters Tournament two weeks later to hold all four major titles at once, the ''Tiger Slam'', as well as this Players, the unofficial "fifth major." Fulton Allem
Fulton Peter Allem (born 15 September 1957) is a South African professional golfer. Allem was born in Kroonstad, Orange Free State (province), Orange Free State, South Africa, the middle child of five children and the grandson of a Lebanese people, Lebanese trader; he had a privileged upbringing. By the time he came into the world, his family had the largest Maize, corn farm in the Southern Hemisphere and the only privately owned grain silos in South Africa. Martin Kaymer
Martin Kaymer ( ; born 28 December 1984) is a German professional golfer. A winner of two major championships, he was also the No. 1 ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Ranking for eight weeks in 2011. 1983 Tournament Players Championship
The 1983 Tournament Players Championship was a golf tournament in Florida on the PGA Tour, held March 24–28 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville. It was the tenth Tournament Players Championship. Heavy rains on Thursday delayed the start until Friday, with the final two rounds planned for Sunday. Thunderstorms on Sunday morning allowed only the third round to be completed, and the final round was held on Monday. Hal Sutton, age 24, came from four strokes back with a final round 69 to win his second tour event, one stroke ahead of runner-up Bob Eastwood. Later in the year, Sutton won his only major title, the PGA Championship in August at Riviera. Defending champion Jerry Pate withdrew before the start, due to a lingering neck injury. Hal Sutton
Hal Evan Sutton (born April 28, 1958) is an American professional golfer, currently playing on the PGA Tour Champions, who achieved 14 victories on the PGA Tour, including a major championship, the 1983 PGA Championship, and the 1983 Tournament Players Championship. Sutton was also the PGA Tour's leading money winner in 1983 and named Player of the Year. Professional career Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Sutton was a promising player at its Centenary College, and was named ''Golf Magazines 1980 College Player of the Year. The 1978 Tournament Players Championship was a golf tournament in Florida on the PGA Tour, held March 16–19 at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville.
