The 2001 Liga Perdana 2 season is the fourth season of Liga Perdana 2. A total of 12 teams participated in the season.http://www.rsssf.com/tablesm/malay01.html 2001 Liga Perdana 2 Sabah and Brunei were relegated from Liga Perdana 1 while Kedah JKR and PDRM were promoted from Liga FAM to a now increased total number of teams competing in the league from ten to become 12 teams. The season kicked off on 2 April 2001. Johor FC won the title and was promoted to Liga Perdana 1 alongside Sabah and NS Chempaka. Johor FC
Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club or simply JDT is a professional football club based in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. The club was founded in 1972 as PKENJ FC and currently competes in the top division of Malaysian football, the Malaysia Super League. The club is owned by Tunku Ismail Idris. In 2014, JDT gained their first major honour by winning the national league during the first season under Croatian manager Bojan Hodak. Under Argentine Mario Gómez's tutelage, they won the 2015 AFC Cup and the 2015 Super League. The Brunei Football Association used to enter a team in Malaysian football competitions. The team won the Malaysia Cup in 1999. The team played at the 35,000-seat Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan. History Brunei first entered the Malaysian football league competitions in 1979. When the Liga Semi-Pro was introduced in Malaysia in 1989, Brunei also were invited along with Singapore, the other foreign team in Malaysian competition.
