Brunei (Liga Premier Team)
The Brunei Football Association used to enter a team in Malaysian football competitions. The team won the Malaysia Cup in 1999. The team played at the 35,000-seat Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan. History Brunei first entered the Malaysian football league competitions in 1979. When the Liga Semi-Pro was introduced in Malaysia in 1989, Brunei also were invited along with Singapore, the other foreign team in Malaysian competition. Historically Brunei were the lower ranked team in Malaysian competition, often finishing at the lower rung of the league table and knocked out in the early stages of Malaysia Cup. However, their highest achievement in Malaysian competition was winning the Malaysia Cup in 1999, the first time they had won the competition. Brunei Football Association
The Brunei Football Association ( ms, Persatuan Bolasepak Brunei; abbrev: BAFA) was the governing body of football in Brunei until 2008. History Early days The Brunei State Amateur Football Association was formed in 1952 in Seria, Brunei. It was formally registered to the Registrar of Soceities in 1956, and afterwards joined FIFA in 1969 as the Brunei Amateur Football Association or simply BAFA, which it was still referred to as until its final days even after the dropping of 'Amateur' from its name in 1993. The association was responsible for Brunei's participation in the annual Borneo Cup, and from 1979 to 2005, the Brunei representative team in the Malaysian leagues. 2009 FIFA ban In September 2009 the association was banned globally by FIFA due to government interference in the association. DPMM FC (Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota FC)
Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Football Club (His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Brunei Football Club in English language, English, commonly known as DPMM FC) is a professional association football, football club based in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. The club played in the Brunei Premier League in the early 2000s, winning the league title in 2002 and 2004. The club then decided to play in Malaysia, and joined the Premier League Malaysia, Malaysian Premier League as a foreign-based team in for the 2005–06 season. They won promotion to the Super League Malaysia, Malaysian Super League (the top tier of Malaysian football) at the end of their first season in Malaysian football, and then finished 3rd and 10th in the following two season in the Super League. The club then left the Malaysian league and joined Singapore's S.League for the 2009 season. Piala Sumbangsih (English: Malaysia Charity Cup), also known as Piala Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah ( en, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup), is the Malaysian super cup competition. It is the curtain raiser match to the new Malaysian football season, pitting the reigning Malaysia Super League champions against the previous year's winners of the Malaysia Cup. The 2022 edition was held between the Malaysia Super League champions, Johor Darul Ta'zim, and the Malaysia Cup winners, Kuala Lumpur City, with Johor winning their seventh Piala Sumbangsih title after winning the match 3–0. Ajayi Oluseye
Ajayi Oluseye (born 12 April 1975) is a Nigerian former football player and current coach. He played professionally in Oman, Brunei and Malaysia. He is currently head coach of Osun United F.C. Career Oluseye started his playing career as a striker at Shooting Stars S.C. before transferring to Al-Seeb Club of Oman, where he reportedly became the top scorer in the 1999–2000 Omani League and helped his team finish in third place. He attended trials held by newly established DPMM FC of Brunei in early 2001 and signed full terms the following year, just in time for the inaugural 2002 Proton B-League. He scored seven goals before succumbing to an injury suffered at a friendly tournament between rounds, forcing a premature end to his season. Ferid Idrizović
Ferid Idrizović (born September 10, 1982) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian former footballer who played in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malaysia Premier League, Albanian Superliga, Montenegrin First League, and the Canadian Soccer League. Fadlin Galawat
Fadlin bin Galawat (born 5 November 1978) is a retired Bruneian footballer who played for the Bruneian representative team of the M-League, Brunei DPMM FC and the national team as a midfielder. Perhaps the most well-known Bruneian of Murut descent in his heyday, he was a member of the Brunei team that won the Malaysian Cup in 1999. Club career Brunei Fadlin started out with the Brunei team that played in the Malaysian leagues in 1997. Along with contemporaries Azmanuddin Gillen and Irwan Mohammad, the trio formed a youthful Brunei midfield which complimented the ageing local players and experienced imports. Subhi Abdilah Bakir
Haji Muhammad Subhi Abdilah bin Haji Bakir (born 8 April 1980) is a retired Bruneian international footballer who played for most notably the Brunei M-League representative team and Brunei DPMM FC as a right-sided midfielder. He also played as a right wing-back for DPMM later in his career. Club career Subhi played for the Brunei representative team starting in 2000 when he was drafted in to replace several players who retired immediately after winning the 1999 Malaysia Cup. Sallehuddin Damit
Pengiran Sallehuddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit (born 5 November 1973) is a Bruneian retired footballer who is a coach for Kasuka FC. One of the legends of Bruneian football, he most notably played for the Brunei M-League representative team that won the 1999 Malaysia Cup, which is regarded as Brunei football's greatest achievement. He also played professionally for Brunei DPMM FC for several seasons. Prior to his marriage in 2001, his given name was Awangku Sallehuddin due to naming rules for descendants of Bruneian royalty.
