Billboard Latin Music Awards
The ''Billboard'' Latin Music Awards grew out of the ''Billboard'' Music Awards program from ''Billboard'' magazine, an industry publication charting the sales and radio airplay success of musical recordings. The ''Billboard'' awards are the Latin music industry’s longest running award. The award ceremonies are held during the same week as Latinfest+ (formerly known as the ''Billboard'' Latin Music Conference). The first award ceremony began in 1994. In addition to awards given on the basis of success on the Billboard charts, the ceremony includes the Spirit of Hope award for humanitarian achievements and the Lifetime Achievement award, as well as awards by the broadcasting partner. Musician Enrique Iglesias has won 47 awards, the colombian Shakira has won 42 awards, and is the most awarded female. MTV Unplugged (Shakira Album)
''MTV Unplugged'' is the first live album by Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira, released on 29 February 2000, by Columbia Records and Sony Latin. It was recorded on 12 August 1999, during her ''MTV Unplugged'' performance at the Grand Ballroom in New York City. The performance was released in 2000 as a live album, and again in 2002 as a DVD. It was critically acclaimed by American critics and earned Shakira her first Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. Production and reception The Unplugged concert was the program's first episode to be broadcast entirely in Spanish and served as her major breakthrough in the U.S. market. The concert is noted to be the "first time a Latin pop act attempted an Unplugged, the first Latina solo act to do so, and the first time a Latino act didn’t tape their performance at MTV’s studios in Miami." ''Atado a Tu Amor'' ( en, italic=yes, Tied to Your Love) is the ninth studio album by recorded Puerto Rican-American recording artist Chayanne. This album was released by Sony Discos on September 29, 1998 (see 1998 in music). It received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. The album was certified gold and platinum in several countries and is considered to be one of the best-selling albums in Chile. The album's lead single ''Dejaría Todo'' was certified gold in Spain. Christian Sáinz Valdés Castro (born 8 December 1974), known professionally as Cristian Castro or Cristian, is a Mexican pop singer. He is the son of actors Veronica Castro and Manuel "El Loco" Valdés, and nephew of actors Ramón Valdés (known for playing Don Ramón in El Chavo del 8) and Germán "Tin-Tan" Valdés. Son by Four is a latin music group from Puerto Rico, well known for their English U.S. pop hit " The Purest of Pain (A Puro Dolor)". The group is now independent, as they founded their own label SB4 Music Group in 2003. Son by Four was created by Panamanian producer and songwriter Omar Alfanno and their members Ángel López, Pedro Quiles, and brothers Javier Montes and Jorge Montes. MDO (band)
MDO is a Latin American pop/rock band, spun off in 1997 from the Latin American boy band once known as Menudo. The group's first line-up reunited for an international tour in 2015. Band history In the mid-1990s, Edgardo Diaz, Menudo's creator and director, sold the rights for the trademarked name Menudo to a Panamanian company. After the release and promotion of Menudo's album ''Tiempo De Amar'' in 1996, the remaining line-up formed MDO under the direction and production of Diaz at first. The members at the time were Abel Talamántez, Alexis Grullón, Anthony Galindo, Didier Hernández and Daniel René. Together they recorded the album '' MDO'' in 1997 (Gold Record). In 1999, they followed it with '' Un Poco Más''.
