The 2001 CAF Champions League Final was the final of the 2001 CAF Champions League. It was a football tie held over two legs in December 2001 between Al-Ahly of Egypt, and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa. The 2001 CAF Champions League was the 37th awarding of Africa's premier club football tournament prize organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 5th prize under the CAF Champions League format. Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club (simply known as Sundowns) is a South African professional football club based in Mamelodi, Pretoria in the Gauteng province that plays in the Premier Soccer League, the first tier of South African football league system. Super Rugby is a men's professional rugby union club competition involving teams from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. It previously included teams from Argentina, Japan, and South Africa. Robert Loftus Owen Versfeld
Robert Loftus Owen Versfeld (7 December 1862 – 5 May 1932) was a South African rugby union player and administrator who was a founding member of the Eastern Province Rugby Union and of the Pretoria Rugby Subunion (1908) which in 1938 became Northern Transvaal. He founded Pretoria Rugby Club in 1888, and established Pretoria rugby headquarters at Eastern Sports Grounds. He introduced grass playing fields to the Transvaal. Versfeld is the only South African player to have won a Grand Challenge Cup in three different provinces with three different teams: the inaugural Western Province Grand Challenge Cup with Hamilton Rugby Football Club in 1883; the Eastern Province Grand Challenge Cup with Union RFC in 1888; and the Transvaal Grand Challenge Cup with Pretoria RFC in 1889. Arcadia is a suburb in Pretoria, South Africa that is known for its historical buildings, embassies and hotels.
